basic blood types said on Corona gear FAIRFIELD (AP) Blood stains found on pieces of evidence in Juan Corona's trial match the basic blood types in everyone, including the 25 men he is charged with murdering, a blood expert testified Thursday. Dr. Ruth Guy told the jury in Corona's Superior Court trial she tested eight blood stains from Corona's van and found three stains of group. A blood and one stain of group blood and group blood each. The Dallas, Tex.

blood expert said she tested a floor mat and rug found in the trunk of Corona's car and they contained all four basic blood types 0, and AB. The blood stains in the van "indicate to me it was blood from three different people," Dr. Guy said, and the blood stains on the mat and run "indicates blood from four different people." Dr. Guy testified the blood could have come from some of the 25 murder victims, but she did not say the victims definitely left any of the blood stains she examined. She also testified she found a group blood stain on the hilt of a large knife, a group A stain on the blade of a smaller knife and a group 0.

stain on a pistol barrel. Previous testimony disclosed the pistol and knife were found in a locked desk in Corona's office in the mess hall of the Jack Sullivan ranch and the Assemblyman says not guilty SACRAMENTO (UPI) Assemblyman Edwin L. Z'berg, whose car rammed the rear of another vehicle at a capital intersection Nov. 16, pleaded innocent to a charge of drunken driving Thursday. A pretrial hearing was set for Dec.

21. The Sacramento Democrat would receive a fiveday jail sentence if convicted of drunken driving with a previous conviction. But it's unclear whether a previous conviction will be counted against 1 him. The district attorney's complaint charges Z'berg with drunken driving with a prior offense. The lawmaker pleaded nolo contendere in 1969 on a drunken driving charge, but the conviction and $302 fine were set aside two years later by Municipal Court Judge Thomas Wallner.

News. NATL. 1972 "We could get within range if Otis would stop screaming every time he sees a moose." Judge clears start of Ellsberg trial U.S. District Judge Matthew Byrne Thursday set the Pentagon Papers trial of Daniel Ellsberg to begin next Tuesday in Los Angeles. Byrne cleared the way for beginning of the longdelayed case by ruling that certain sections of the secret documents could be introduced by the government.

Ellsberg and co-defendant Anthony J. Russo are charged under espionage statutes with illegal possession and removal of files about the evolution of the Vietnam war. The only remaining obstacle was an appeal to the U.S. Appellate Court asking for a mistrial on grounds that the jury, picked and sworn in July but idle since then, had been exposed to prejudicial publicity during the delay. The defense had also objected that the government at 'the last moment had increased the list of several hundred pages from the Pentagon Papers it planned to introduce as proof that the leak of the classified documents endangered national security.

Byrne placed a limit on the number of pages from the documents that could be introduced. Defense lawyers had asked for another postponement on grounds they had not sufficient notice to prepare their case. News blackout enforced at trial of 4 Hell's Angels OAKLAND (UPI) A total news blackout was enforced Thursday at the heavily guarded murder trial of four Hell's Angels in the Alameda County Courthouse. Armed bailiffs barred the entry of newsmen and spectators to the third floor courtroom where a hearing on whether a prosecution witness should be allowed to testify was being held with the jury absent. The exclusion order by Superior Court Judge Richand J.

Hayes applies to only the current hearing of an informant who served time with the defendants in the county jail. 8, 1972 INDEPENDENT (AM) PRESS-TELEGRAM (PM)-C-1 Carley Porter's funeral rites set for Monday smaller knife was found on a shelf in the same office. DURING the medical phase of the case, two Sacramento pathologists testified most of the 25 murder victims suffered stab wounds in the chest whichcould have been inflicted by a knife and that one victim had been shot in the head. Prosecutor Bart Williams -of Sutter County has also introduced evidence showing 13 of the victims had type A blood, 9 had type blood, one victim had type blood, one type AB blood and Corona has type blood. One victim has not yet had his blood type identified. Court testimony has not revealed why the prosecution did not come up with a blood type for this victim.

Dr. Guy also testified she found group blood on a Levi jacket found in Corona's garage, group AB blood on a child's belt found in the defendant's car and group blood on a pair of men's under shorts found in Corona's van. Two pair of men's trousers found in a cabin near Corona's office both had human blood on them one type A blood and the other type blood, Dr. Guy said. SHE SAID she was restricted to testing all blood stains for the ABO basic blood types because of the age of the stains and because other blood grouping tests are less stable.

Defense attorney Richard Hawk established there are several different types of blood groupings besides the ABO system. If these other blood typing systems were used, it would be. possible to break an individual's blood type down to thousands of possible combinations of the ABO system, Dr. Guy testified under cross examination by Hawk, Dr. Guy's first four hours on the witness stand Wednesday and Thursday were spent answering questions about her background in blood testing and how she performed tests to determine ABO groupings.

ABO blood group findings, Dr. Guy reported, were found on seven of eight murder victims where the prosecution had previously been unable to established blood groups from medical or blood bank records. Corona was a farm labor contractor who did most of his work on the Sullivan ranch where 24 of the 25 bodies were unearthed in May and June of 1971. Vital Statistics Births APPELLO, Mr. Mrs.

Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Compton, with Moreland's Mortuary in charge. The 66-year-old Compton Democrat, architect of the nation's unprecedented $3 billion California State Water Project, was attending a conference of retired teachers. When he failed to attend a meeting Wednesda morning, associates went to his Statler Hilton Hotel room and found him dead, victim of an apparent heart attack while he slept. Porter had served 22 years in the Legislature, representing the 38th District covering Compton and surrounding communities. He had been re-elected Nov.

7 by a 68 per cent majority for a 13th twoyear term beginning Jan. 8. Porter was the thirdranking member of the 80- seat Assembly in terms of seniority. He was first elected in a special election in 1949. His seat will be filled by special election at the direction of Gov.

Reagan. His death will cut the Democratic margin in the 1973 Legislature from 51-29 to 50-29. THE VETERAN legislator gained state recognition in. 1960 as coauthor of the Burns-Porter Water Bond Act, a issue which launched construction of the State Water Project. He was also coauthor of -the Porter-Cologne Water Quality Act of 1968, a landmark antipollution me a- sure which Porter described as the toughest antipollution measure in the nation.

He also authored the Clean Water Bond Act in 1970. Porter was chairman of the Assembly Water Committee, a post he had held since the committee was first organized in 1959. He also was a member of the powerful Ways and Means Commitee. He was elected chairman of the 45-member Los Angeles County legislative delegation in 1957 and subsequently was re-elected to that office five times. PORTER WAS the second member of the Assembly to die within a week.

Republican Frank Belotti of Eureka, who was retiring after 22 years in the Assembly, died last Thursday, the day before adjournment of the regular session of the 1972 Legislature. Porter was a businessman after coming to California from Chicago in 1917. He also taught history and speech at Long Beach City College and Excelsior High School before winning his first Assembly term in a special election in 1949. The aqueduct is now nearing completion after a 12-year construction program that is regarded as one of the biggest engineering feats in history. A key aqueduct unit the Carley Porter Tunnel carrying water across the Tehachapi Mountains was named in recognition of his efforts on behalf of the massive water redistribution program.

In more recent years, he had turned his attention to water issues affecting the environment, and had coauthored the Water Quality Control Act and Clean Water Bond Act. Porter was born in Chicago on Feb. 19, 1906. He and his family moved to California in 1917. He attended Compton College and later graduated from USC.

He is survived by his wife, Marie and a son. Carl, of the Downey family residence.
