mm Iraportanco of the Charleston Con- yention. Vhe Charleston Contention If the first the Presidential Convention to meet, and Its action will hve a very Important 'influence npon tho other pnrty conven-. Hons which nro called at Chicago and iMtimore. Although it is composed almost entirely jf partisan In whom, per- icrtaKy, 6 confidence, yet, as it is tho only no of tho Tresi-tlonlinl -CoViVefntions that will have full delegations from every State in thelTnlon, Wild thus possesses a truly nntionnVcliur-nctotv the conservative feeling of the vhoro country looks to it With the hope' that In the present emergency, it' will uy aside nil ultra partisanship, ami bo animated by a broad national spirit in its proceeding. A reaction lia jpgiilt in tlio Central.

and Northern commercial States against the revolutionary and destructive mania which has taken hold of the blaofc rtpablican party, and the com acrvative clement is beginning to move, to preparo itself for enlistment in the fight of sclf-prescM-atkm agumst So-VnrA and his funaticu'. The lections in Connecticut and Rhode Jwlnnd demonstrate beyond question tlie change that has already taken place in tho popular sentiment in practical -New lCnglnnd i nnd if tho Charleston Convention pursues a moderate course, and nominates a man whoso antecedents will command the confidence of tho conser-vutivo clement, it may reasonably be expected that ho will carry all of the "Central and a number of Ore Northern commercial i)ut tho men who go to Charleston -must lcinember that that body will oc-'cupy tho position of the conservative convention of the Union, more from accident than from any net -of tho party which lias called them together, Imbecility, leading to defeat, broke up tho old whig party, nnd the rapid growth of tho Know Nothing organization which succeeded it showed how disgusted the peoplo were with both tho whig and democratic Combinations. The little-mindedness of the Know-Nothing leaders soon reduced that organization ton nonentity, and thcblack Yopublicnn party acquired strength from tho folly and dissensions of tho demo, cracy more than fioni any soundness in its own principles. Tho fraternal embrace -which its leaders have now given to the petty band of fanatical abolitionists has given the black republican party it? death" wound, and at this moment the whole country is looking anxiously around for the party nnd the statesmen whose broad national views shall sink the partisan and tho politician, nnd whose big heart shall cherish the L'uion, lie country, and the whole country, in its impulses nnd affections. The.

democratic partisans who aro about to meet at Charleston in convention do not occupy Unit position; but they are tho first to meet, nnd it rcts with them to tukc it. Tho country, however, is not blind to tho fuel that they come together merely through iho power of the old party drill, rather than from any unity of sentiment or of impulse. Their party is as huro of national statesmen among its leaders as is any of tho others. Thero is not. among tho thirty or forty aspirants for the nomination at Charleston, asinjzle man who, as a Senator or representative in Congress, dares to take, on any great na.

tionul question, tho position of a states. man, nnd speak and act in opposition to any temporary aberration of tho public mind in his own State, trusting to tho power of reason nnd truth, and tho ever willing patriotic impulses of the peoplo to sustain him at homo. Party loudcrs have descended to the level of politicians, nnd eaclj one endeavors to preserve his position by catering to the whims of lo cal feeling in his own State, and to obtain tho Presidency through bargaining combinations and cheating transactions with his fellows. Tho conscquenco that tho democratio parly which is to meet in representation at Charleston is as piebald as Joseph's coat, while the fan. atic of the black republican leaders has attained some degree of ro- spectabjlity from tho fact that it dwells upon something more broad than tho whims of any particular State.

Demo. crntic faction has killed everything in the democratio party except the mechanical movements of party drill. This is going to bring together in National Conven. tiun, perhaps for tho lust time forever more, tho advocates of squatter soveroign. ty and of strict construction, the ultra pro-slavery men of the South, and those with free soil proclivities from the North tho tnriti' partisans and the free-traders, the southward extensionrsts, and those who think the area of freedom is extending itsoif as rapidly as is compatible with safety, the Buchanan conservatives, tho Douglas temporisers, tho Hunter oxclu- sives, tho Guthrie and host of self-worshippers, who look upon the govorement as something to bo ad ministered for their own personal and peculiar benefit.

The whole country waits to see if the men thus brought to. gethcr by party drill will recognize the greatness of the emergency that is before them, and, putting asido their petty local fancies, adopt a platform broad as the Union, and place upon it a man who will command the oor.fidenco of the conservative fooling now everywhere aroused by the sense of danger. By such a course, and by none other, can the Clin rle ton nominee bo elected by the people. If this course is adopted at Charleston the Baltimore Convention will lose all I ill' portance, and that of Chicago dwindle to a gathering of windy fanatics. If it should fail to do this, and, proclaiming ultra doctrines, place an extremist on their plutfurm, the conservative senti ment, ulrcady alarmed, will turn iU hopes to the Baltim6re Convention, and -this body wilt larh wisdom from tho folly of thai which met at Charleston There la one tiling, ills evident, that the country will not sanction1.

No extremist, no pure advocate of the aelf-styUd pighls of the South or of the North, can be The next President must oomo from the Statu bordering on the central linet.where men, "know the- value of the North nnd tho South to each ofhet, and where the conservative feeling is strongest and most active. 0 tnan, nnd with brond national principles on his banner, tho whole. South, all the, Central States, and many of the commercial one in the Iflovitr. can be carried' for the preservation of tho constitulion nnd tho Union, If such a one is not nominated at Charleston, wo shall have seen the last democratic, party, and the whole rountt-y must rally round the, "Raltimoro Convention, and secure from It the nomination of a conservative mun to lead the reaction that has already commenced in 4he North against tho. revolutionary and destructive tendencies of the abolitionixed black republican loaders.

No one remedv ia louder called fur bv the necessities of the American people than a sure and safe cure for' Fever and Ague. Such wo aro now enabled to offer, with a perfect certainty that it will eradicate the disease. nd with assurance, founded on proof, thai no harm can arise from its use in any4uan titjr. That which nro teds from or movents this disorder must be of immense service in the communities where it prevails. Prevention ia better than cure, for the patient escsDes the risk which he must run in violent attacks of tins baleful distemper.

I his "Cvna excels the miasmatio poison of Fever and Aaita from tlio system and prevents the develop ment of tho disease, if token on the first approach of its premonitory symptoms. It ia not only tho best remcay ever yet discovered for this clan of Complaints, but also the cheapest. Tho largo quantity we supply for a dollar lirings it within the reach of every body) and in bilious districts, where Fbvbb, and Aoub prevails, every body should havo it and use it freely both for cure and protection. it is hoped tins price will piaco it within the reach of all the poor as well as the rich. Those cured by it aro left as healthy as if they had never had the disease. Fever and A cue Is not alone the conscquenco of tho miamatio poison. A great variety of unorders anso Irom its irritation, among which, are Neuralgia, lthcumatism, Uout, Headache, Illiiidiiess, Toothache, Earache, Catarrh, Asth ma, ralpitatinn, l'ainlul Aitcction of the Spleen, Hysterics, Tom in the bowels, Coho, Paralysis, and Derangement of the Stomach, all of which, when originating in this cause.

It taken occasionally or daily while exposed to tho infection, thut will be excreted from the system, and cannot accumulate in sulHcicnt quantity to ripen into disease. Hence it is even more valuable for protection than cure, and few will ever suffer from Intennittcnts, if they avail tnemseivcs oi toe protection uus remedy affords. Ayers Cathartic' Pills, FOR ALL THE PURPOSES OF A FAMILY PHYSIO, are so composed that disease within the range of their action con rarely withstand or evade them; Their penetrating properties search, and cleanse, and invigorate every portion of the human organism, correcting its diseased action, and restoring its hculthy vitalities. As a consequence of these properties, the invalid who is bowed down with fiatn or physical ueliuty ia astonished to find his icnltli or energy restored by a remedy at once so simple and inviting. Ivot oulv do thev cure the ererv.dav eomnlainta of every body, but also many formidable and dangerous diseases.

The agent below named ia pleased to furnish gratis my American Almanac, containing certificates of their cures and directions for their use in the following complaints: Costivt ncsi, Ieartburti, Headache arising from disordered rcurwtcn, itaiMt-M, Mnuitcstion, ram in ana Moroia Inaction of the Uoircli, Flatutencv. Lost of Amv tite. Jaundice, and other kindred complaints, arising from a low state of the body or obstruction of its functions. They are an excellent alterative fur the renovation of the blood and the restoration of tone and strength to the system debilitated by disease. Ayers Cherry Pectoral, run the haimd cobb op Coughs, Colds.

Influcuza, Hoarseness, Croup, Bronchitis, Incipient Consumption, nnd for tho relief of Consumptive rnticnu iu advauccd stages of the disease. So wide Is the field of its usefulness and so numerous are tlie cases of its cures, that almost every section of country abounds in publicly known, who have liccn restored from alarming and even desperate diseases of tho lungs by its Ufle. 'When once tried, its superiority over every other medicine of ito kind is too apparent to escape observation, and where its virtues are known, the puUic no longer hesitate what antidote to employ for tlie distressing and dangerous Bisections of the pulmonary organs that are incident to our climate. While many inferior remedies thrust upon the community have failed and been discarded, this has gained friends by every trial, conferred benefits on the alllicted they can never forget, and produced cures too numerous and too remarkable to be forgotten.
