The steamer Clan Macphee sailed yesterday for St, John, where she will load a full cargo of flour for the French government. of her crew while on shore yesterday became confused in the city and went to Commonwealth docks in search of his vessel. It took workers there an hour to learn what vessel the strolling Indian belonged to. The Japanese steamer Tansan Maru will sail today for Manchester, with a large and varied cargo.

Her shipments will include 1490 bundles of agricultural Instruments, 350 reels of copper wire, 67 cases of motorcycles, and quantities of lard, bacon, cloth, etc. Most of this is said to be for the British government. The British steamer A. Gordon, which was to have left two days ago for Douisburg. C.

is held up at Mya tic docks on account of a strike among the coal trimmers there. The men struck for an Increased wage. Other men were engaged to take their places, but tho work of discharging the vessel proceeded very slowly. The steamor Is expacted to sail today. Water leaked Into the hold and the pumps became choked with pyrites. The situation was very serious for a time. Captain Summerfleld decided to put Into the Azores, and upon arrival at St. the cargo was lightered, repairs made and the pyrites reloaded. Then the steamer continued to this port.

Two stowaways from the Azores were brought In on the ves.sel. They were taken over by immigration officers.
