With Uncle Sam Special Forces To help build Special Forces strength, the Army has approved a new enlistment option for men to enter the program at the reception station. Prior to the announcement of the new program, men interested in Green Beret duty could not volunteer for special forces training until they had completed airborne training and were airborne qualified. The option is restricted to men 20 years of age or older who enlist for a three-year tour of active duty specifically for Special Forces. There is now a possibility that the age limit may be lowered to 19-year-olds and that the Army miay allow young men to volunteer for Special Forces direct from civilian life.
