Catlow Mr. John Engel, aged 55 years, passed to his heavenly reward, at the Evanston hospital, late on the evening of November 18, just one week after he had been taken there for an operation. A long endured stomach ailment took on an acute and sudden turn necessitating the operation from which he was not to recover. Mr.

Engel, a son of the late William and Fredericka Engel, was born in Chicago, April 12, 1881. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in St. Lutheran church at Niles by Pastor Brauer in 1895. On October 30, 1904 he entered into matrimony with Mathilda Steinbrink and they proceded to establish their home on a farm on Ballard road where the family is still living. Of the four children born to this union one died in infancy.
