Presbyterian Womens Lunch Features Rosa Page Welch Members of the Arlington Heights Presbyterian association and their guests will meet for luncheon and a Christmas program Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 12:30 p.m. Luncheon will be served by members of circle 7, with Mrs. Bert Gathercoal and Mrs. Charles Tully in charge of arrangements.

Devotions will be led by Mrs. Herman Berthold and the theme of the day will be "Christmas is a Happy Mrs. Ronald C. White, music chairman of the association, will present the widely-acclaimed mezz o-soprano, Rosa Page Welch. In her work as of in interracial relations, Mrs.

Welch has sung before youth groups and adults through the land. She has conducted courses in inter-rac i a 1 understanding at inter-group and Inter-denominational conferences of young people and has contributed greatly toward improving race relations wherever she has been heard. MRS. WELCH, who studied with Alexander Nakutin at Kimball hall in Chicago and with B. Fred Wise, eminent teacher at the American Conservatory of Music, has also done special work in religious education at the University of Chicago.

She has appeared in recitals in loop and has been acclaimed by critics of the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Daily News for the of her naturally beautiful mezzo- soprano voice. The singer, a native of Port Gibson, was graduated from the Sou thern Christian Institute, a miss ion school of the Disciples of Christ, at Edwards, Miss. On a recent 8-week tour of Japan and Korea, Mrs. 1 ch sang benefit concerts for Japanese widows and children and for refugee and other projects in Korea, under the auspices of Church World Service. Her program here will feature Christmas numbers, including some of her moving interpretations of Negro spirituals.

She will be accompanied by the Presbyterian church organist, Mrs. Earl Auge. THE FOLLOWING officers for the coming year will be installed president of the association: Mrs. A. Benedix, president; Mrs.

Lloyd Smeltzer, vice president, and Mrs. James Moore, secretary; Mrs. E. R. Tierney, treasurer.

A gift will be awarded to one of the members and refreshments will be served. MEMBERS AND their friends are reminded of the Book Fair to be held Sunday, Dec. 14. in the church basement. A selection of more than 6000 books of religious and non-religious nature will be on display.

All books purchased at the fair are guaranteed Christmas delivery. (A The next school board meeting will be held Monday, Dec. 15, at 8 p.m. All interested persons are welcome. A combination Christmas party and grab bag were held after the December 2 meeting of the Mothers club.

Hostesses were Mrs. Benjamin Marx and Mrs. Robert Currie. The Mothers club banner for the third month was won by Miss Patricia room. Myrt Jevne celebrated her birthday December 1 with a birthday lunoheon.

Her guests were Fran Burton, Virginia Brodnan and her mother, Mrs. Wilson of Missouri, Ruth Grismer, Marge Gorr and Lorraine Soenksen The Mothers club is sponsoring a bowling party for the patrol boys and girls Tuesday, Dec. 23, at 10:30 a.m. They are to meet at the school and will be driven to the bowling alley in Des Plaines. AND MRS. Howard Dahl and Carole attended the seventh birthday party for Patty Racine. Mary Smalenberger and Karen Lofquist were among the students of Lu Staahl who went to see Lincoln in the White in Evanston Saturday. Edward Lauing celebrated his birthday with his family Sunday. Ernest Tagge celebrated his 80th birthday at the West Park field house, Des Plaines, Sunday.

Among the guests were a neph ew, Ernest Tagge and family, Mrs. Lizzie Joost and a brother, Henry Tagge.
