Fortier Funeral services for Dr. John A. Fortier, D. D. of 208 South Sacramento boulevard, Chicago, were held Wednesday, August 24, at 9:30 a.

m. from the funeral home at 3246 West Jackson boulevard to Our Lady of Sorrows church. Burial was at Chenoa, Illinois. Dr. Fortier died last Saturday night while in the hospital.

January 1, 1942 Dr. Fortier started his dentistry practice in Prospect Heights. He was the last of the original business men except lor Mr. Smith. Many business men closed Wednesday morning in tribute to Dr.

Fortier. Surviving him mother, Mary, and brothers, Emmet and Martin Busse Funeral services for Martin Busse, late of Des Plaines, were held Tuesday from funeral home. Interment was in Ridgewood cemetery. Mr. Busse was a former Elk Grove township farmer, son of th.e late Henry and Mary Busse.

He was born on the Busse farm on Algonquin July 22, 1870. He retired about 20 years ago. Mr. Busse died at his home August 20, following a lingering illness. Surviving are his wife; three sons, Elmer, Franklin and Melvin; four daughters, Gertrude Behrens, Mabel Spiegler, Della Lemke and Olive Schweppe; 17 grandchildren; and two sisters, Ahona Schwake and Minnie Precht.

Fred Heifers Final rites for Fred Heifers, late of 1480 Oak wood, Des Plaines, w'ill be held today, Thursday, at 2 p. from chapel, D.es Plaines. Rev. Alien E. Fedder will officiate 'ind interment will be in St.

cemetery, Elk Grove. Mr. Heifers was born in Elk Grove township March 18, 1868. He died at his home August 22. His wife, Pauline, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his children, Edward. Ella Carlson, Alfred, Mabel Haemker of Palatine, Elmer, Walter and Herman; and 17 grandchildren. Obituaries William P. Melzer Funeral services for William P. Melzer, late of Northbrook, were held August 24 from the Village church.

Interment was in Ridgewood cemetery. He laid in state at funeral home until Wednesday noon. Mr. Melzer was bom in Chicago January 31, 1877. He aied August 21 at St.

Francis hospital. The Melzer family, his grandparents, came to Northfield township in 1847. His mother, Mrs. Sarah Melzer, was 92 August 23. His father was a cabinet maker in Chicago.

William Melzer was a prominent citizen and business man for over 43 years in Northbrook. He was also a member of the Glenview Lodgej 1058 A. F. A. M.

Surviving are his Cath- erine Louise, nee his i children, Mrs. Dorothy Giilesby of Springfield, Mildrea, Wallace, Helen, Raymond, Mrs. Ruth Mueller, Mrs. William Maxson and William, ail ot North- brook; and five grandchildren, Suzanne Melzer, Nancy Giilesby, Sara Maxson, Ronald Maxson and Carol Melzer. Schwerman Funeral services for August G. Schwerman, late of Sylvan Lake, will be held today, Thurs- day, from Redeemer Lutheran church, Waukegan, at 2:30 p. m. Interment will be in St. cemetery, Fairfield.

Mr. Schwerman, 77, a lifelong resident of Lake county, died Tuesday at his home in Sylvan Lake, a resort community which he developed. He operated a lumber yard and store at Gilmer for 45 years. For many years he was a member of the board of the Northern Illinois district of the Lutheran church, Missouri synod. He was also a deacon at Redemer Lutheran church.

Surviving are his wife, Pauline; children, Mrs. Lillian Hitzmann of Aurora, Esther and Marion at home, Carl H. of Mount Prospect and Earl O. of Rochester, four grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Minna Massman of Libertyville, and Anna and Leno of Gilmer.

WILLIAM ROLD The will of the late William Rold, of Chicago, who died June 18 leaving a $100,000 estate, has been admitted to probate. Among his bequests is $2,000 to Richard Rold, Nephew, of Des Plaines. VERNON STURM Vernon Sturm, of Palatine, who died intestate July 24, left a $2,000 estate to his widow, Ruth. CARRIE HAGE The will of the late Mrs. Carrie Hage, of Palatine, who died May 31 leaving an estimated $12,000 estate, has been admitted to probate in Chicago.
