Summers, who is stationed with the United States army air forces as a bombardier "somewhere in Palestine." He sent a letter to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.

C. F. Summers, 1750 Park Place recently, with ten $100 money orders asking them to purchase a war savings bond for him. The two. tickets will represent him at the dinner.

Harrison is chairman of the committee in charge. Many prominent Wichitans are expected to photo. only a short time, having come here from Memphis, Tenn. At the first meeting of the Victory fund committee on Friday, it was decided to set the goal of the dinner at $100,000. Later, however, it was decided to raise the goal to $1,000,000.

"This is the first time a milliondollar goal ever has been set in Wichita for a project of this type," Mr. Harrison said. "We must see that this drive is a success." Six hundred letters, calling for volunteers to enlist for the dinner, have been mailed out by the Victory fund committee to various groups of business men of the city. The letters call upon 1 Wichitans to support the boys at the front with purchases of war bonds so they may be provided with arms and ammunition, planes and tanks, MILLION DOLLAR GOAL IS SET FOR WICHITA'S VICTORY BOND DINNER Lieut. and Mrs. C. E. Summers, 1750 Park Place. A letter received recently from their son, contained ten $100 money orders and the instructions, "Please buy 8 $1,000 war bond for me." Lieutenant Summers was aboard one of the first army bombers to be flown to Europe after the United States entered the war.

"I saw the announcement of the Victory dinner in the paper," Mrs. Summers said, "and was wishing that I could attend. I didn't have any idea I would be able to. When I learned of my son's wish, I immediately called Mr. Harrison and told him I wanted the first two tickets." Lieutenant Summers is a graduate of the University of Nebraska.

He vas graduated from an army air corps flying school at Shreveport in December of last year. For a time he was stationed at Karachi, India. It was while he was stationed there that he sent the money home for the bond. On July 26, Mrs. Summers received a cablegram from him saying, "Still OK, Palestine." Mr.

LOSES ONE FINGER Chet Robertson, 923 Coolidge, who is planning to play football with the Aero Parts professional football team this fall, suffered an unusual but serious accident during the past week.
