Guinness Succumbs To Paris Charms In Picture At Lark Paris With which opens Wednesday at the Lark Theater, is an engaging British comedy in which Alec Guinness shows what love can do to a middle-aged Romeo. While this is not Guinness at his greatest, the film does have some great clowning in it as best entertainment export tries to prove his youthful vigor to impress a young French girl. Guinness plays Col. Sir Edgar Fraser, a wealthy aristocrat who gees to Paris with his devoted son, Movie Technical Advisor Brought Out Of Shadows HOLLYWOOD (U.R) Many a technical adviser for motion pictures has gone ail but unheralded, although without his contributions a successful production might have been a dull flop. Kieffer was graduated from West Point in 1911, the second enlisted man to go through the academy in 105 years.

In 1917 he served in Mexico in the pursuit of Pancho Villa and earned his first bar while another cavalryman named Douglas MacArthur was becoming a captain. Kieffer looks as he should. And thus it comes as no great surprise that he has a part in story of cavalrymen and Indians. He plays a cavalry major, naturally. Vernon Gray, so that the latter may learn about life, preferably wherein it concerns that manifestation, the French girl.

The boy, in turn, figures that his widowed father needs a woman to break through the gathering crust of middle age, preferably a mature, independently wealthy Frenchwoman. As Guinness and his son ride into beautiful the backgrounds are lovely leg comes into the range, hanging from the back of a motorcycle. A female tumbles off and the British tumble out of their car to the rescue. The leg, it turns out, belongs to a delightful chit of a working girl, Odile Versois, with whom Guinness becomes infatuated. And young Gray is soon enmeshed with an older woman, Elina Labourdette, who has been selected by a friend of Guinness to teach the young man the way of love.

Adding to the resultant confusion are the young boy friend and family and other friends of the Guinness clan. Then, too, Guinness has several involvements which are pure and simple battle with a badminton net and a mix-up between his suspenders and a door. The situation is resolved tidily after a series of amusing switches and misunderstandings. There two other points worth noting about the film: it does for Paris what cameramen have been doing of late for Italy and the views are magnificent; and there are several specialty numbers built into the plot that are smartly handled, a flashy bongo and a suave turn titled and by the Georges La Faye Company. ALL IN ALL: A delightfully amusing film, in color, incidentally.
