By NORMAN VINCENT PEALE having faith, do your best and you vous I met a friend of mine who is can usually make things come out usually member of Congress train from Washington ago. "No," he replied, "if I worried about it, then I'll be upset and won't handle the situation very well." "How are you going to handle the situation?" I asked. "Ill tell you. They'll be a noisy crowd and there will be over a thousand there.

But I have my own way of meeting these situations. It's a little formula I learned a long while ago which has served me well ever since. TRUST GOD This is it: I will breathe deeply, talk quietly, speak sincerely, hold my temper and trust God to see me through." "I have learned one thing." the Congressman continued, "and that is, in any situation, the secret is to relax and keep calm, practice BIBLES Records Plaques Mottos Song Books Tracts INTERNATIONAL FISHERMEN'S CLUB 132 PACIFIC AVE. Most people would go into a meeting like that all tied up, full of belligerency, with a chip on the shoulder, ready to meet their ponents blow for blow.

And, in-, evitably, the results wouldn't be too good. This chap, however, had taught himself how to meet a tough situation and gain the respect even of those who differed from him. I imagine he could go home after such a meeting and sleep peacefully, without being plagued by bitterness or thoughts of how he could have handled the situation better. His formula is really a great secret to learn. It's the way to personal power and real efficiency.

I met the Congressman later and: he said the meeting turned out well. WHY DO WE? Then he laughed and said, "Why do we always insist on making things SO hard for ourselves?" That's a good question. Why live the hard way? Why make things difficult for yourself? Life isn't easy, of course, but it's not as hard as some people like to make it. My congressman friend had mastered the principle of spiritual relaxation. It contrasts sharply with the attitudes of people who live the hard way, People who become proficient in this art manage to attach strength, force and power to their lives.
