a a B-2 The Bradenton Herald, Friday, October 21, 1983 Board grants tax exemption to state senator A piece of south county land owned by state Sen. Patrick Neal was granted a valuable tax exemption Wednesday by the county Property, Appraisal Adjustment Board, which overruled Property Appraiser Frank Perkins. The exemptions, called greenbelts, are reserved for commerical agricultural lands, offering lower taxes as an incentive to avoid profitable development and keep them "green." The land, owned by the Neal Island Investment Properties, is in the process of being rezoned for development but now has cattle grazing on it. The Arvida Corp. is interested in buying the land to develop it.

The board also approved a greenbelt for Bill Mote, who owns land near Neal's. Like Neal, Mote grazes cattle but has begun seeking zoning changes to allow for development. All other petitions Wednesday to overrule Perkins were overturned. Deaths Marguerite A. Barthes Marguerite A.
