Wilcox KNBC- News 35 Monitor Holidav :55, Weekend News Novato Fire Chief George Cavallero today warned residents that the winter season is approaching and urged them to check heaters and fireplaces. He was joined in the warning by Chief Charles Thornton of Fairfax, Chief A. T. Henrich of Ross, Chief Richard R. Flaherty of Terra Linda.

All of the discussions will be open to the public, said 1 Drath. ty precautions should be followed: All types of floor and wall heaters should be checked for accumulation of lint, dust and papers. Such foreign matter is extremely dangerous and can smoulder and cause a fire once the heaters are lit, Cavallero said.

The chief also warned of potential dangers from fireplaces, lack of fire screens and improper ventilation, and suggested the following safety measures: Fireplaces: Chimneys should be cleaned to remove soot accumulation, thus preventing hot sparks from reaching the roof. As an extra precaution, a hood should be used to cover the chimney. Fireplace screens: All types of fireplaces should have screen, the chief said to prevent sparks from reaching rugs and other combustible materials. Ventilation: If heaters or open fireplaces are left burnings at night, a window in the room should be left open, even if only a few inches. In the event of accidental blaze, the fresh air entering the room through the window would prevent oc-j cupants from being overcome by smoke or fumes.

Portraits On Display At Bank In Belvedere Throughout the rest of this month, portraits of local people by Rita Graves will be on exhibit at the First National Bank in San Belvedere-Tiburon office on the Boardwalk at Belvedere. On display are photographs of men and women, children and animals by Miss Graves, whose studio is on Main street. By LARRY LOVETT The familiar adage show must go was never more appropriately apparent than last Friday night at the Sausalito Little Theater when director John Brebner took over the lead role in of Your on 24-hour notice as the Saroyan classic opened for a run of five weekends. The crisis arose the night before opening when Bob O'Leary cast in the role of unable to continue. With the bulk of the action laid in a lower level bar on San Embarcadero as Joe sits at his accustomed table, Brebner did a masterful job of portraying the part of a human, understanding, apparently homeless citizen of the waterfront whose ever present wealth remains a mystery to his friends.

Although Brebner referred to his script occasionally, his inflections and mannerisms were so convincing as to make his reliance on written words almost unnoticeable. Time of Your is described in the program as a comedy; but it would more correctly fall into the category of stark drama as it draws out the poignant tragedy in the lives of a parade of characters who appear in Bar on the Embarcadero. Kitty Duval, the lead feminine role, is played by a newcomer to Sausalito, Yvonne Lynn. Kitty, who says she has! been a burlesque queen but who also makes a living nearby in the oldest profession, is the central tragic figure, as she becomes the love interest of Tom, a waterfront nondescript played by Robert Her-1 rell. Miss Lynn executes a masterful performance in portraying! the many moods and characteristics demanded by her part.

The play is characteristic Saroyan, whose trademark is that of a series of character studies; and this vehicle is noj exception. Jn Time of Your one of the characters is a policeman played by Mike Kane, who sums up the feeling of many as he comments, all Another is the Arab, done by Joe Bologna, as he repeats his one line with monot-j onous regularity, founda-j tion all the way down the Many parts were limited in execution but none to finished perfection. Among these are Harry the dancer done by Bob; Chiappari, and his piano ing partner, played by Leonard Jared. The climax, smoothly executed by Chuck Fesler as Blick, and John Perry as Kit Carson, brought the lengthy production to a sudden peak that merited its long applause. Time of Your is done in the round.

The single set, excellently done by Nan Fowler, and the smoothness of action resulting from Bud stage management, combined with direction to produce a vehicle which held the audience's attention throughout. Time of Your will be presented four additional Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:30.
