He said the buses on the free routes would go inside the campus over access roads. BART directors yesterday also gave tentative approval to having AC Transit, rather than BART, buy buses for special service into areas not now served by trains trains. AC would buy the buses and operate them for BART to Pittsburg, Antioch, Livermore, Pleasanton and the Danville area, and also into the area north of Richmond. BART had intended to buy 32 buses but federal rules on labor contracts delayed the purchase and it appears the coaches can be acquired faster by having AC buy them. BART will ask the Metropolitan Transportation Commission for the funds.
