Obituary James Barrett, 79, Former State Judge Syracuse (AP)-James J. Barrett, former chief judge of the New York State Court of Claims, died yesterday in 4 hospital here. He was 79. Barrett was stricken with a heart attack Sunday night. He had continued a law practice here after retiring in 1947.

He spent nearly 20 years on the state bench. Barrett, a Democrat, was appointed to the court of claims in March, 1928, after service as a deputy state attorney general and as president of the Syracuse Common Council. Barrett was born in Syracuse, graduated from the Syracuse University College of Law and was admitted to the bar in 1900. He served as presiding judge of the court of claims from 1930 until his retirement. Survivors include a sister, Mrs.

John W. Dorsey, and a brother, John F. Barrett, both of Syracuse. His wife died in 1949. Funeral services will be Thursday at the family home at 8:15 AM and at 9 AM at the Most Holy Rosary Church.

Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery. S. B. Irelan, 67, President Of National Oil Concern New York (AP)- Singer B.

Irelan, president of Cities Seryice Oil Co. operations throughout the Midwest, died yesterday in Roosevelt Hospital. He was 67. Irelan had undergone a surgical operation for an undisclosed ailment a few months ago. A director of Cities Service the parent oil firm, he was president and a director of Cities Service Oil Delaware division, which handled marketing throughout the Midwest.

His home was in Bartlesville, headquarters for the company he headed. One of the nation's leading figures in the electrical utilities and petroleum and natural gas industries, Irelan also headed numerous other producing, development and distribution firms in the Midwest. These included Cities Service Gas and Development Cities Service Production Cities Service Pipeline and LaFitte Oil Traders Inc. He was also president of Cities Service Oil Co. Ltd.

Mrs. Adeline Hahnle, 60, Lindenhurst Lindenhurst Funeral services 11 AM tomorrow in the Lindenhurst Hahnle, 60, who died Saturday. Mrs. Hahnle lived with her of 20 years on the force, at 427 S. eral Hospital.

(UP) Dozens of "Gasoline Alley" friends of Bob Sweikert at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, scene of his greatest racing triumph, filed past his casket in a speedway mortuary yesterday. Sweikert was killed, as were -10 other 500-mile race winners before him, in a racing car. The accident occurred Sunday at Salem, during a sprint car race.

Settlocker, who lived at 60 13th Locust Valley, was born in Oyster Bay and lived in this community until nine years ago. Known as "Pop" Settlocker, he worked at a North Shore boatyard renting rowboats until ill health forced his retirement a year ago. Previous to that he worked as a gardener and greenhouseman on numerous North Shore estates.

He is survived by his wife, Ida; two daughters, Mrs. Lillian Hawxhurst and Mrs. Dorothy Wiesel; a son, Edward; a stepson, George; a brother, William, and nine grandchildren. James A. Mitchell, Retired Printer, 62 Hempstead Funeral services were to be held today for James A.

Mitchell a retired printer who died at his home Saturday at the age of 62. Mitchell, who lived at 100 Homan was a lifetime resident of Hempstead. He had been employed for about 40 years by the National Electrotype Company of New York before his retirement five years ago. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; a son, Dr. James A.
