Jaqucline Logan a 20-year resident of Goldens Bridge and Julius Joseph Faxekas-Jr of Rye Brook who hid careers In the US Nivy and US Postal Service died' Sunday of cancer it United former high school teacher received a degree in Spanish education from the University of the Americas in Mexico City She went on to get a degree in Spanish education at active member 6f Junior League former teacher at John jay High a School died of emphysema July 18 Audrey Diets Ellis' a former and -Fort Lauderdale While in Larchmont she-was instrumental in founding and operating Golden' a thrift store that donated its profits to charitable causes She also helped write and produce an audio-visual history' of the Boston Post Road She assisted in and modeled for an annual ftind-raising section of the New York Herald Tribune from 1959 to 1962 Larchmont resident died of cancer related causes Friday at North Hospital in Fort Lauderdale She was 63 Mrs Ellis was born June 24 In Mamaroneckto Harry and Lillian Diets She graduated with honors from' Mamaroneck High School in 1944 She married Daniel Ellis on Mrs Logan was a Spanish teacher at the John Jay High School tat 16 years She was also an active partici- pant in extracurricular Activities including Hie Spanish Club and the annual variotv show annual variety show She left the district in 1986 A devoted bridge player she won numerous lifelong Port Chester area resident he was horn Sept 22 1927 to Julius -J and Elizabeth Pescy Faxekas He graduated from Our Lady of Mercy School and attended Port Chester High School He moved to Rye Brook around' 1968 when the area was still- the unicorporated portion of Rye Town Mr Faxekas served from 1944 until 1946 in the Merchant Marines befbre serving in the US Navy from 1948 until 197ft He was a chief shipfltter While he was in the Navy he was a recruiter in Yonkers He was in the Fleet Reserve from 1972 until 1975 During his seagoing years Mr Faxekas served on several ships that took' him throughout the world including Germany Saudia Arabia and China He begin his career on the USS Sabine an oil tanker He also served on the USS Boston based in Massachusetts and the USS Delong based in Brooklyn While still in the Fleet Reserve years in 198ft He was a member of American Legion Post 93 in Port Chester the Disabled American Veterans the Fleet Reserve Association and the Sokol Club in the Byram section of GreenwichConn Hs married Frances James on Sept 22 1956 at the chapel on the naval base in San Diego' He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Port Chester In addition Ur his wife of Port -Chester Mr Fasekas is survived by one son Julius Joseph Faxekas III of Richmond Maine two daughters Mary Morrello of San Francisco and Elisabeth Riddle of Arlington Va two sisters Mary Haeger of Rye Brook and Elisabeth Cook of Partin NJ and one grandchild Another son John Faxekas died egrlier Family and friends are making contributions to the American Cancer Society
