The verdict handed down Thursday in Orange County Superior Court after a 10- week trial was believed to be one of the largest personal injury awards in county history. The accident occurred near Ensenada, Mexico while the plaintiff, Robert W. Brokopp, 34, and his wife, Carol, 27, were vacationing. Mrs, Brokopp, who was awarded $10,000, was driving at the time. The five-man, seven- woman jury held that a defective bracket on the power steering mechanism of the couple s camper van was to blame for the accident in which Brokopp’s neck was broken.
