Oldsntobile Enters Jetstar As Lower Priced 88 Model Wed., Sept. 25, 1963 Oldsntobile has added the Jet- star 88 as a lower-priced companion to the other 88 models. This new series will be offered in four-door sedans, hardtops, coupes and convertibles. The body will be a full-sized Oldsmobile mounted on a special 123- inch wheclbase chassis. The new car will be powered by the 345 -horscpowcr Starlirc en­ gine, with a new chambered dual exhaust system. Bucket scats and center console arc standard in this model. new .Tetfirc Rocket engine, a 330- cubic-inch member of the Rocket family. This new engine uses an inverted "A" cylinder block construction with integrated manifold and engine cover for a quieter running. It will develop 245 horsepower with a 10.25 to 1 compression ratio. This engine is teamed with the new Jetaway transmission, consisting of an automatic gear shift and torque amplifying feature permitting extra performance without downshifting. From the new series to the 98 model, special grilles, bumpers, tail lamp assemblies and new rocker panel moldings highlight the 1964 designing efforts. New interior features in the Oldsmobile include a redesigned instrument panel. A power console extends from the engine cowl to the rear of the front seats on the 98 Custom Sports Coupe, Jet- star I and Starfires. This Jetstar I is the new medium-priced sports car by Oldsmobile. The Starfires and Jet- star I will have a chambered exhaust system to emphasize the "sound of muted power." Front suspensions on all the models contain new pivot bushings on upper control arms, and single piece construction of rear suspension lower control arms will give quieter operation by better aligning the differential. Improved needle bearings and seals in universal joints are designed to increase durability. A new heater will be standard, and options include AM-FM radio, tilting steering wheel and cruise control. Ten interior and 15 exterior colors will give the buyer a wide range of choice. The cars go on display Oct. 4. Oneida WSCS Gains Rating ONEIDA — The Woman's Society of Christian Service met at the Oneida Methodist Church Sept. 18. Mrs. John Adams had charge of the worship service and Mrs. Genevieve Adams gave the lesson on "Where Does a Christian Woman Volunteer Her Time?" She was assisted by Mrs. John Hines, Mrs. Ora Olson and Mrs. Florence Johnson. Mrs. Chris I-Iarmison accompanied the group in the hymns. New study classes will begin Oct. 1, the topic being "These Cities Glorious." The Rev. Mr. Biehl will teach the sessions. It was announced that this society has received a Standard rating this year. It was voted to give $100 toward the new furnace which is being purchased for the church. It was also voted to install a permanent clothesline at the parsonage. Collegians Entertained At Kirkwood KIRKWOOD — Recent dinner guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rhinehart and family were Carol Clarke, Marcia Wallace, Tonylou Trione and Robert Richardson Poole, students at Parsons College, Fairfield, Iowa, the girls all being Delta Zeta sorority sisters of Nancy Rhinehart. Miss Rhinehart, who is convalescing at home following surgery at Monmouth Hospital a few weeks ago, is getting along fine and is looking forward to returning to her studies at Parsons. Kirkwood Briefs Weekend guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Nees and family were Mrs. Nees' son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs, Harlan Johnson and family of Chicago, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gonyier of Davenport. Mrs. Gonyier is Mrs. Nees' granddaughter. There will be a cub-dad fishing party Sunday afternoon at Young's Lake, instead of Saturday as previously planned. Those who plan to attend were asked to take meat for sandwiches and a covered dish for the supper at 6 p.m. The Yorkwood 1963 yearbooks and senior pictures are ready for distribution. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Hawkey of Wilmington recently spent a week with their uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. William Nees and family. The Rozetta PTA meeting was held recently at the school. Mrs. Paul Elder is the teacher. There was a wiener roast and potluck supper. The program consisted of songs sung by the students. Judge Levies $150 Fine For OMVI CAMBRIDGE — Russell Carter, Andover, was fined $150 and costs in Henry County Court Thursday by Judge Conway Spanton on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Carter previously pleaded not guilty and the case was set for a jury trial. Yesterday he changed his plea. READ THE WANT ADS! Marsh Family Holds Reunion Several Galesburg area residents attended the Marsh reunion held at Fort Madison, Iowa recently. Oldest person present was Mrs. Elsie Marsh and the youngest was Richard Marsh, four- month-old son of Mr. and Mrs,, Eugene Marsh of Fort Madison. One birthday, that of Sharon McKee of Knoxville, was noted. Iowa cities represented were Fort Madison, Keokuk, Montrose, Argyle and Donnellson..
