Call BfU7. In Today's Records MARRIAGE LICENSES Willis a Borror, Lir.eoln 53 Mr. Pearl Delka. Lincoln 28 V. Stoke suggested the American democracy was founded on romantic bases.

He listed the two major premises as (1) all men are equal, and (2) the masses of the people have within themselves the intelligence and integrity to govern themselves. "I call them romantic beliefs," he said, ''because they are not based on demonstrable objective facts. They were arrived at by an act of faith." Dean C. H. Oldfather of the college of liberal arts and sciences, said history refuted the assertion the founding fathers based their new government "on a bunch of beliefs." "After breaking loose from England, the Americans found they could not set up a kingship because of the lack of tradition.

An oligarchy or aristocracy was out of the question because there were not enough of the kind of people needed. There was nothing else to do but set up a democracy, he said. Dr. David Fellman of the university political science department, said democracy is still an abiding article of faith. i MAH Si HKA, REV.
