Brown Trial: The Note By Maureen O'Neill Mineola- a dramatic moment in the JoAnne Brown murder trial yesterday, the County Court clerk announced, "People's 39 now in evidence." "People's 39" is the note written by law secretary Burr Hollister the day he was fatally shot, Sept. 29, 1974. Assistant District Attorney Stephen Scaring had said in his opening statement that the note indicated Hollister's "indecision" about his relationship with Brown, with whom he lived for two years. Scaring had said that after reading the note, Brown set out "for a final confrontation." In green ink on a lined white page torn from a spiral notebook, Hollister wrote: Dear JoAnne I spoke to Eunice this afternoon in some detail about the case- -Looks tough but maybe something can be done.
