Hodges, Woodfields, Springfield, and Pinecrest participated in this year's contest judged by local store owners Khaled and Wendy Abdelwahab. Wendy Abdelwahab is the daughter of former owners John and Evelyn Powell who retired from the business. She originally came up with the idea years ago to help promote the community in two different areas as the family felt Greenwoods community had blessed them. ' The contest is designed to raise awareness for the community's needy and the local schools. All non-perishable foods are donated to the Greenwood Food Bank and the winning school gets $500 (all schools participating receive $125).
