Nelson, president of Northern Illinois University, said Wednesday that he has banned the playing of the National Anthem at home basketball games. Nelson said he issued the order to prevent possible conflicts between black and white students. He said that at basketball games last season, some black students refused to stand during the playing of the National In addition, Nelson said, a group of black students asked that a so-called black anthem be played at games along with the National Anthem.

That request was denied. The National Anthem was played at NIU football games this year, but Nelson said, he was anxious to "prevent divisiveness" among students in the tightly packed university fieldhouse. Bobby Dale Lowery Services p.m. Friday December 17, 1971 Officiating -Rev. Timothy A.

Thurs. Fri. Johnson's Belvidere Appliance 2020 N. State 16-17-20-21-advt. new agent for license Mayor Dominic Kirane told the BDR Wednesday night he will contact the management of the National Tea food store in the Belvidere Mall in an effort to iron out the liquor license problem caused by the resignation Monday of assistant manager Bernard Bahling who quit to operate a men's clothing store.

Bahling, who recently purchased Grady and Sullivan, was listed on National's license, as the local agent for the corporation. City ordinance requires a liquor license holder to be either a resident of Belvidere or a corporation with a resident agent. The mayor said he didn't foresee any problem, but he indicated National would have to find another Belvidere resident to serve as local agent, for license purposes.
