Several of the young people in the valley attended the box supper at 8 mile last Friday nieht and report a fine time. Rev. Greer will preach in Hebron church Sabbath November 19 at 2 p.

Communion services were held at Republican City church Sabbath Day The meeting of the B. M. I. club was postponed last week on account of Mr. Campbell's funeral.

Wm. Opfer went to Wakefield last week. Mr. and Mrs. Mclntire have been visiting at their son Jim's the past two weeks.

John Woods of Newton was calling on friends and old neighbors last week. He is very much pleased with his new home Mr. and Mrs. Bert White had a lit tie dinner party Saturday for a few of their friends, the occasion, being their wedding anniversary. Eric Anderson, the young man who has been working at Dr, Gillespie's for several gone to Minnesota to attend school the coming winter May success go with him.

Mesdames Charlie White and Nel son Hahn entertained a number of their friends Friday evening at the home of the latter. Henry Splate received word Satur day evening that his bon-in-law, Chris lioelzle, or Denver met with a very severe accident Thursday evening and no hopes of his recovery. Mr. Hoelzle was on the third lloor and went to the elevator shaft intending to go down to the first floor. It was dark and he did not know that the elevator was a story higher up, stepped off and fell down three stories.

C. W. Law had one of her knees quite badly hurt by slipping in getting out of a wagon a short time ago. The ladies invite everybody to at tend their fair and dinner at the church on Thanksgiving. Mrs.

Eddy Storum's face was quite severely scalded Saturday by her dropping a kettle of hot water on the stove ana tne concerns nying up her face. Her injury, though painful, is not serious. G. Miller had quite a severe attack of pleurisy on the 10th. She has now recovered. J. W.

and J. A. Patterson attended the funeral of their uncle, Alexander Campbell, in Clay Center Thursday. The 9ports are havine some fine times hunting raccoons these fine nights. The boyshave an invitation to bring their hounds over to Fact to run down the coons over there.

It is said that the coons over there come out and drag the doga to the creek and drown 'em. The expenses of Sherman township the past two years were in excess of 2200 for each year. Sherman Sunday school will have appropriate exercises on Christmas eve. Frank Garrett raised enough buck wheat this year to make flap jacks for the county. Chas.

Harbaugh and wife of Clifton, attended service in Sherman church Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. John Cyr from the Miltonvale neighborhood visited Grandma Souligny Thursday and Friday. Mr.

Cyr is a cousin of Mrs. Souligny. Tabor. Nov. -A new daughter was born 13th to Mr.

and Mrs. L. McConnell. Mrs. John Blackwood and son George are visiting relatives in Mitchell county.

Frank Coultra of Colorada went to Olathe last week after a visit at T. K. Tipping. R. Tippins gave a party to th9 young people last week, about sixty of them being present.

church. Rev. Story and wife attended the surprise on Rev. Mitchell at Four Mile Wednesday last. Dr.

Moore and wife were county seat visitors Friday. J. Scott Fullington was in Clay last week having dental work done. Mrs. R.

Roberts and A. Copeland and wife attended the funeral of Mrs. McClellan at Clay Center Friday. R. V.

Roach spent Sunday with his family in Clay. F. M. Torrence has been on the sick list the past week. F.

A. Hagberg has a sale Wednesday. He expects to leave the farm. There is being an addition built to the present parsonage, A. McCon-aghie doing the work.

E. Vanzandt of near Oak Hill expects to move here this week and occupy the Brown house. Mr. Vanzandt will engage in some kind of business. Congressman Calderhead of Marys-ville and Postmaster Achenbach of Clay Center were interviewing our citizens Friday.

Frank Gentry was helping in the removal of the Gentry store in Clay Center Friday. Al Engert, leader of the Idana band and the band boys will give an entertainment at the school house Thanksgiving evening. There will be music, a play and an oyster supper. The proceeds to go to the band. This promises to be one of the musical treats of the winter.

Householder west of Clay Center. Elizabeth Amcoats spent a day or two last week with relatives near Morganville. Mrs. Slingsby visited friends up at Green last week, old friends whom she knew in Illinois. Herb Thornton left last week for Wisconsin where his wife is visiting relatives.

They expect to return home soon. There was a meeting at the Thornton school house last week to talk over putting in a switch on the L. K. road. It would be used chiefly for the shipping of stock and grain.

Ralph Holiday was quite sick last week. Zelda and Lydia Pettijohn were in Clay Saturday. Mrs. James was on the sick list a few days last week. Frank Maple went to Clay Center Thursday, returning Saturday.

Audrey lams visited in Clay Center from Friday until Monday. Mrs. Henry Newton of Fact and Mrs. R. Slingsby of Clay spent Thursday with Mrs.

Rote. Will Giffee, George Cox and Bertha and Pearl Cox attended the party at Mr. Purchase's Friday. Mrs. S.

A. King and Ethel Smith spent Thursday with Mr9. King's father T. Miles. Elver Hainey and wife went to Clay Center yesterday and spent the day with friends.

Geo. Hammond went to Greenleaf Wednesday and his brother returned with him for a few days visit. Maynard Moon of Oklahoma is here to visit friends for a few weeks. F. M.

Jacobs and wife and M. I. Waggener and wife spent Sunday with Mrs. Uuy Uwens of Fact. Little Dean Hainey has been very sick for the past few days but is improving a little now.
