AND THE PRESIDENT ACTS WASHINGTON, Oct. on being notified that the coal strike was declared off President Roosevelt called a meeting of the arbitration commission here on Friday.

The commission will organize and begin work at once. The first session will probably be held at Wilkesbarre. Oct. 21 bf-fore 3 this afternoon President Roosevelt received a le'egram from Wilkea- barre. Informing him the convention of miners had declared off the anthracite coal strike.
