Also Has Strong Claim as All Southern Quarterback Out of the squally session of the Southern Conference teams last Saturday came the University of Tennessee with a 6 to 0 defeat over Crimson Tide to takethe lead in the mad rush for the championship Those Vols are the only first division team to remain in the running and from all indications the orange and white colors of Tennessee will fly from intersectional games provide the sauce for the football feast on Saturday but traditional rivalries furnish the real backbone of 'the menu On a day when such games as Army-Yale Dartmouth-Har-vard Navy-Princeton and Syra-cuse-rown are available-to tempt fans only the Carnegie Tech-Notre Dame fray among intersectional battles can offer much competition The so-called Irish and the so-caleld Scotch are friendly rivals of some standing Carnegie Tech can boast -of two successive victories over the Knute Ramblers from South Bend but it appears that three in a row is a bit too much to expect Carnegie without How-' ard Harpster calling plays does not loom so formidable as the aggregation that crushed Notre Dame 27 to 7 at South Bend last fall And team with Carideo Elder Brill and others is much improved over last year The other intersectional games bring together New York University and Dutler of Indianapolis Marquette of Milwaukee end Holy Cross Duke and Vil-lanova Kenyon of Ohio and Haverford all in the east and West Virginia and the Oklahomo Aggies at Stillwater Okla None cf these however can hope to divert much attention from the big domestic spectacles tie game with Harvard last week served only to confirm- what previously had been something more than a slight suspicion namely that to beat the Cadets one must stop Cagle There seems to exist considerable doubt whether Yale can do either Dartmouth with Marsters running wild looked invincible against Columbia but 'it remains to be whether even Delivery can get past a fine Harvard- line Beaten by Brown and Cornell on successive Saturdays Princeton hopes to get going at the expense of Navy but those same hopes seem to lack any logical foundation Navy has been beaten only by Notre Dame and revealed a powerful offensive against Duke Syracuse highest scoring team in the country will be favored over Brown DOUGLAS BATTLES LANGSTON FRIDAY Bristol Colored School Expected to Furnish Rel Opposition Fresh from a next Friday afternoon at 4 :00 Langston boasts of one of the most powerful teams in Virginia and Douglas will be in for a tough afternoon Douglas has its eyes focused on the championship of Virginia and Tennessee and Langston is one foe in the path If Douglas can dispose of Austin high school of Knoxville which is at present rated high on account of a victory over Parks high of Nashville and Roanoke the coveted goal will be reached Langston is the first done in the path and then Knoxville and Roanoke will be on the menu in the event Langston is defeated It is the plan of Douglas to bring to Kingsport for Armistice Day The proposition is a very costly one but it is thought that enough money can raised to bring the big Virginia team to Kingsport Barring injuries Douglas is an even bet to cop the fray Friday The team is in excellent condition for the battle $1750 will put a good Piano in your home Ask to see our used or rented pianos THE LAMB CO Home of CABIEPIANOS ATLANTA Oct 22
