Pohlman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Pohlman of Brussels, Saturday, October 7, at. the Church of the Holy Ghost, Jerseyville. The double ring.service was performed by the Rev.

Eugene Griffin, assistant pastor of St. Francis Xavler Church, Jersey- In the absence of the Rev. P. P. Heinen, who Is visiting in Germany.

Father Griffin also oelebrant of the nuptial mass which followed. Mrs Oscar Hnug of Brussels (Miss Teresa Pohlman), was matron of honor, and Miss Kathleen Rose was bridesmaid for her sister. The junior bridesmaids were Misses Zlta Pohlman and Jeanette Pohlman, sisters of the bridegroom, and Miss Alice Pohlman, a cousin of Sgt. Pohlman. The flower girl was Sarah Jane Hung, and Raymond Brundies was the rlngbearer.

Oscar Haug was best man for Sgt Pohlman and the groomsmen were Kermit Schleeper, Ellis Blck and Francis Rose of Brussels. Eldon Fortschneider and Alfred Woefel were ushers. Bouquets of white chrysanthemums and greenery were arranged on the altar. David Stiles of Alton played while the guests were being seated and during the ceremony. The bride, who was accompanied to the altar by her father, wore a gown of heavy whitt satin.

The fitted bodice was designed with a Peter Pan collar, embroidered in seed pearls, and long tight sleeves ending in points at the wrist. The full skirt was worn over hoops and swept Into a Cathedral train. The bridal veil of illusion was finger-tip in length and was secured by a half bonnet of satin and edged with seed pearls. She carried a shower bouquet of slephanotis centered by a white orchid and wore the groom's gift of pearl for her jewelry. Tht young women attendants wore gowns of Identical- style, of satin and net.

The snug bodice featured a sweetheart and the bouffant of net over satin, extended by hoops. Match- Ing and helmet caps of satin completed their costumes, The matron of honor and the flower girl's dresses were of shrimp color, and those of the bridesmaid and junior maids, were green. The young women carried colonial bouquets of yellow chrysanthemums showered with ribbon streamers, those of tha bridesmaids matching their gowns, and bronze, being used for the matron of honor and flower girl. They wore chokers of pearls, a gift from the bride. Following the marriage a breakfast was served members of the wedding party at the of the bride's parents, and a reception took place nt the high school gymnasium in Brussels, at 5 o'clock.

Sgt. and Mrs. Pohlman left later for a wedding trip to an undisclosed destination. For traveling the bride wore a suit of green gabardine with black velvet accessories and wore the orchid from her bouquet. The bride is a graduate of Brussels High School and was a receptionist in the dental office of Dr.

Ritter of Jerseyville until she resigned to make plans tor her wedding. Sgt. Pohlman, graduate of Brussels High School, is stationed at Fort Riley, Kan. After their wedding trip Sgt. and Mrs.

Pohlman will reside at Junction City, Kan. Wlltman Saturday. Gifts for the prpspeclive bride were arranged beneath an umbrella decorated In rainbow colors. The gifts were miscellaneous In nature. The 16 guests played bunco, and those to whom prizes were awarded were Mrs.

Joe Carn- pagna, Mrs. Carl Wlttman, and Mrs. Chris Montabano. Mrs. Peter Wittman, the hostesses motner, assisted In serving refreshments to the guests at a late hour.

Euon-BrmUly Wedding; At St. Matthew's Church The wedding of Miss Jean Braddy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Braddy, 116 West Cherry street, Hartford, mid Carl G. Ewen, son of Mr.

and' Mrs. Carl M. Kwen, 100 Victory drive, East Alton, took place October 6 at 7:30 o'clock at St. Matthew's Church. The Rev.

William Croke officiated at the single ring ceremony. Ralph Breden played a group of bridal selections while the guests assembled. He played the wedding marches, and during the ceremony he played an "Ave Mafia." The bride wore a ballerina length gown of white Chantilly lace over eggshell satin. The fitted bodice came to a point in front and had 'a sheer yoke and was buttoned down the back with liny satin buttons. The long fitted sleeves, came to points over her hands.

Her veil was secured by a tiny sheer cap trimmed in seed pearls. The veil was finger-tip in length. Her only jewelry was a single strand of pearls, gift of the groom. Her flowers were white carnations entwined with red roses in a colonial bouquet. Miss Mary Ewen, sister of the groom, was maid of honor.

She wore a pink taffeta-gown with a fitted bodice topped with small ruffles and a sheer yoke. The 'ballerina length skirt also was trimmed In tiny ruffles. Her tiny bonnet was trimmed in pink feathers. She wore rhinestone earrings and necklace that had been given her by the bride. She carried a colonial bouquet of carnations and yellow roses.

Robert Vannoy attended the groom as best man. A reception immediately followed the wedding at the home of the groom's parents. Mrs. Ewen is a graduate of East Alton-Wood River High School and Is employed In the quality and specifications department of Owens-Illinois Glass Company. Mr.

Ewen, a graduate of East Alton-Wood River High School, attended St. Louis University, and is employed at Western Cartridge Company. The couple are residing at 217 East Acton avenue, River. Honored on First Birthday Anniversary Mr. and Mrs.

Eugene J. Saville entertained at the home of Mrs. Seville's parents, and Mrs. Joseph A. Leady, 2430 Claire avenue, Sunday evening in honor of their son, Ronnie, on the occasion of his first birthday.

Hanna. Linen Shower for Bride-to-Bo Mrs. Jeanne Reilley Dick and Mrs. Joseph Walters entertained Thursday evening at 900 College avenue In honor of Miss Georgia Noll, bride-to-be of Edward F. Wendle, October 21.

Dessert was served to the guests early in the evening. Roses and delphinium were used in decorations. Miss Noll opened the gifts of linen presented to her, then canasta was played. Those receiving prizes were Mrs. John Sullivan, Mrs.

Earl Bailey, and Mrs. Robert McCoy. jfiia Wedding Saturday The wedding of Miss Jerry Campagna and Waller L. Wittman will take place at 9 o'clock Saturday morning at St. Ambrose Church.

Miss Campagna is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dominic Campagna of Godfrey, Route 2. The prospective bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs.

Peter Wiltman of Godfrey. Mrs. Robert Wilkinson will be matron of honor and Elmer Wittman, brother of the groom, will be best man. Vincent Campagna and Raymond Wlttman will serve as ushers. A breakfast will be served to the wedding party and their families at Garden Gate.

Birthday Party for Michael Mawhee Michael Mawhee was honored Sunday at a parly given by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Mawhee, at the family home, 510 Porter street. The occasion was Michael's third birthday, and guests present to help him celebrate his anniversary were Kenneth Mawhee, Tommy Roberts, Catherine Roberts, Dolores Clausen, Tommy Clausen, Judy Cogan, Sally Cogan, Fatty Dabbs and Joan Gibbons. The Halloween motif was used in party appointments.

Social diversions were joyed, and lunch was served by Mrs. Mawhee, assisted by Miss Rosemary Gibbons. Birthday presents from relatives and friends were received by Michael. Circle 1 Halloween Party Friday Circle 1 of the Grace Methodist Church will have a Halloween party Friday evening at the horn, of Mr. and Mrs.

Diveley will be married December 15, at the First Church of Christ (Christian) of Wood River. The engagement was revealed on heart-shaped cards attached to streamers leading to tiny colonial bouquets which marked each guest's place at the table, and were given as favors. Those awarded prizes for excelling at games were Mrs. Claude Hill, Miss Phyllis Esterlein, and Miss Coleene Dorsey. Other guests were Miss Roberta Wardlow, Mrs.

Arthur Northway, Mrs. Sally McCallister, Mrs. Clarence Ansell, Miss Phyllis Stump, and Mrs. Jess Diveley. Miss Dorothy Humerick Honored by Aunts Miss Dorothy Mae Humerick, bride-to-be of Leon Emerick November 18, was guest of honor at a bridal shower Tuesday evening at the East Alton community house.

Four aunts of Miss Humerick were hostesses to the shower. They are Mrs. Steve Saltich, Mrs. Rudolph Hoffek, Mrs. Steve Kassa, and Elmer Czler.

A large bride doll and a decorated umbrella centered the table on which gifts were placed. Aqua, yellow, and pink streamers were used in decoration. Games provided entertaniment and prizes were awarded to Miss Mildred Rodell, Miss Sarah Napoli, Mrs. Andrew Emerick, Mrs. Wendell Halst, and Mrs.

L. Pritchett. Mrs. Hancock has recovered from a long illness. Floyd Schilling, Harvey Powell, L.

W. Beiser, and Arnold McEuen left yesterday by automobile for a few days of fishing on Norfolk lake, near 'Gamaliel, Ark. The group plans to return home late in the week. Harry L. Buck of 1113 State street is improving at St.

Joseph's Hospital where he has been a patient for the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Carl A. Taylor of Minneapolis, formerly of Alton, are guests of Mrs.

James A. Jones, 3019 Brown street, and will remain until October 19. They will attend the Mrs. Jones' daughter, Miss Nina Jones, and Albert A. Golike Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Alexander and daughter, Carol Ann, of Kearny, N. are visiting Mrs. Alexander's parents, Mr.

and Mrs. M. C. Wilkey, 918 Logan street. Mr.

and Mrs. Wilkey spent two weeks at Kearny, and Mr. and Wood River; Mr. and Mrs. John Hendricks, and Mr.

and Mrs. Billy Hendricks of Hartford, and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Hasenjaeger and son, Ronald of Hartford. Miscellaneous Shower Honors Miss Halloran Miss Rosemary Halloran, who will become the bride of William Romanow October 21 was guest of honor at a shower Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs.

J. S. Emons, 3208 Batson drive. Dessert was served to the guests and Miss Halloran opened the gifts presented to her. Fall flowers were used in decorating the house.

Canasta was played and prizes were given to Mrs. John Halloran and Mrs. Jeanne Reilley Dick. World Fellowship Club Organized in East Alton A VVorld Fellowship Club was organized by young women of the First Methodist Church, East Alt on at the home of Mrs. Luther Welch, 400 Oak drive, East Alton, Tuesday night.

Officers were elected, and the club members will be "big sisters" for members of a Junior World Fellowship Club. Club meetings will be held on the first Monday of each month. During a social hour Mrs. Welch and Mrs. William Lyford served refreshments.

Church Events Mr.

and Mri. Bridges Entertain for Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Bridges of 2714 East Broadway, entertained Tuesday evening with open house and a dinner in honor of their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. Open house started at 4 o'clock and 76 guests were served at dinner.

A three-tiered cake, decorated in silver, centered the table. Many gifts were received by Mr. and Mrs. Bridges. The evening was spent watching television.

Upper Alton Woman's Club in Meeting Mrs. C. Buchanan and Mrs. Edward Scott entertained members of the Upper Alton Woman's Club Tuesday at the home of Mrs, Buchanan, 1315 Washington avenue. Mrs Roy A.

Blair read "Una Anciana Mexlcana" and other poems by Corbln, and Mrs. R. Frank Hollls reviewed "Of Men and Mountains," William O. Douglas. The program followed a business session, and the afternoon was brought to a close with the serving of refreshments.

Mrs. G. Ray Swain and Mrs. Robert Johnson will be hostesses to the club October 24. A film "Second Chance" will be shown. Dr. Pflug to Speak at First Unitarian Church Dr. Harold Pflug, professor of Christian Education, Eden Groves, will speak at 11 a. m.

Service in the First Unitarian Church Sunday. Dr. Pflug, who recently received his doctorate from Yale Univer- Mrs. Alexander and daughter accompanied them home. The Alexander family will be in Alton for, three weeks, GODFREY The Godfrey Parent-Teacher Association, Tuesday evening selected Friday, Nov.

3, as the date for a school carnival. Earl Gaylord was elected treasurer to replace Mrs. Glennon Jackson, who has moved from the community. Final reports were made on the drive to pay special nursing costs for Lynde Bushneil. A total of $634.30 has been collected.

This sum was $53.20 short of the goal and the PTA voted to make up the balance out of its treasury. Two projects were decided on for the coming year. The PTA voted to give $50 toward the purchase of film strips and records. The major project for the year is kitchen A committee of Earl Gaylord, Mrs. Waters, and George Adair was appointed to survey the kitchen to determine what is necessary to put it in first class shape.

The PTA will again sponsor a Boy Scout, Girl Scout and Brownie troop and will also sponsor a Cub Pack if such a group can be organized. The following committee chairmen were appointed for the carnival: Dining room, Mrs. Delmar Bott; kitchen, Mrs. Ernst country store, Henry Sedj- wlck; novelty stand, Logan Hickerson; midway, Dr. de L.

Paul Nilson, who has been a missionary to Turkey for 'the Congregational Christian churches, will speak at the meeting of the Mission Society Friday, Oct.

20, at the Congregational parish house. The Rev. Nilson was recently released from his duty In Turkey to report back to the Congregational Christian churches In this country. A 50 cent luncheon will be served by the Society at 1 p. m.

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bauer of Springfield, are announcing the birth of their first child, a daughter, at 8 a. Tuesday. The baby weighed 7H pounds and has been named Barbara Elaine.

Godfrey Notes Mrs. Sadie Jackson returned Monday from Minneapolis, where she has been visiting since July 15 at the home of her daughter, Mrs.

J. C. Lamping. Mrs. Jackson flew from Minneapolis to Chicago and then continued to Alton by train.

Mr. and Mrs. Avery Whyeri spent Sunday at the home of their aunt, Mrs. Phillip-Walter. is a former Godfreyite and is now living in Peoria.

The Rev. and Mrs. Edward Souders, Grafton, spent Tuesday at the home of the Rev. and Mrs. Luther Brookman.
