Albert Coons, 68, Chain Store Exec Lebanon, -Albert Coons, vice president of the Allied Stores a leading department store chain in New York and Pennsylvania, died yesterday fo arteriosclorosis at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. He was 68. Coons was president of Pomeroy's a chain of stores in Pennsylvania cities that are wholly owned by Allied. He was chairman of the board of the Lebanon County Trust Cp. The chief New York and Long Island stores controlled by the chain are Stern Brothers and Gertz, Inc.

At Christmas, 1914, Coons came to Lebanon to work over the holiday in the Bon Ton Store here. He stayed on, rising to be manager of the Bon Ton, and subsequently, when it was bought by the Hahn Department Stores chain, to be a vice president and director of that corporation. The Hahn stores' name was changed to Allied in Arthur O. Norton, 90, Was Professor of Education Newton, Mass. (AP)-Arthur O.

Norton, 90, professor emeritus of education of Wellesley College, died yesterday in a Newton nursing home. He served as professor of education at Wellesley from 1912 to 1938 when, on his retirement, he was named professor emeritus. Born in Stillman Valley, he attended Illinois Normal School, taught there for some vears and entered Harvard in 1894. He was graduated in 1898, received his masters degree in 1899 and was instructor of education at Harvard from 1899 to 1905 and assistant professor from 1905 to 1912. During World War I he served as chief of information service at the Bureau of Industrial Housing in Washington.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM tomorrow at the Waterman Funeral Chapel, Wellesley. U.S. Judge James Alger Fee a member of the U.S. Court of Appeals Ninth Circuit, San Francisco, died last night of a heart attack suffered at a bar convention. Fee, a former U.S.

district judge at Portland, was attending an American Bar Association Judiciary banquet when he was stricken Monday night. A short time before he became ill, he was elected chairman of the judiciary's administration section. His wife, Alice, was with him when death occurred at 8:45 last night at a Miami Beach hospital. Fee was attending the ABA convention with his court's chief judge, Richard H. Chambers.

Rockwell, 51, Wife Of Artist Norman Rockwell Stockbridge, Mass. (AP)-Mary Barstow Rockwell, 51, wife of Norman Rockwell, widely-known artist, died unexpectedly yesterdav in her South St. home. She and her husband had lived in Stockbridge for the last six vears. Mrs.

Rockwell was born in Wheaton, daughter of Alfred E. and Bernice (Gary) Barstow. In addition to her husband she leaves three sons, Jarvis Waring Rockwell of San Francisco, Thomas Rhodes Rockwell of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and Peter Barstow Rockwell of Haverford, one sister, Mrs. Straton Wynkoop of Fisher, N.Y., and a brother, Alfred E. Barstow Jr.

of Alhambra, Calif. Services will be Thursday afternoon in St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Stockbridge Cemetery. Joseph Sproul of Ace News Rockville Centre-Joseph S.

Sproul, assistant to the president of the Ace News Inc. of New York, died Monday in his home at 169 Harvard Ave. He was 64. Sproul was an early leader in the national distribution of newspapers and magazines. He was a veteran of World War I and belonged to the New York Athletic and Rockville Country Clubs.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth; a son, Robert; his mother, Jesse, and four sisters, Mrs. Catherine Clancy, Mrs. Mary O'Riley, Agnes Sproul and Jesse Sproul. E. E.

Mensel, 68, Executive Northampton, Mass. (AP)---Ernst E. Mensel, 68, president and general manager of the Hampton textile manufacturers, died Monday. He also was a director and treasurer of the Hampton Spinning Mills. A native of Carthage, he was a graduate of Dartmouth College.

investment firm, died last night at his home in Hillsborough. He collapsed at dinner. He was actively in charge of the firm, which had capital assets of more than $35,000,000 and had been at his office yesterday. He was born in Ashtabula, Ohio, and was graduated from Ashtabula College in 1905. He came to San Francisco in 1909 and five years later organized Blyth, Witter Co.

A decade later the firm became Blyth Co. Blyth was a director of Crown Zellerbach Pacific Gas Transmission Hewlett-Packard Co. and Stanford Research Institute. William Ahmuty of Great Neck Great Neck-William R. Ahmuty of 10 Welwyn retired insurance claims supervisor for the Employers Liability Assurance died yesterday in Doctors Hospital, New York, after a brief illness.
