Poston, Chicago environmental control commissioner, took a boat out into Lake Michigan, boarded a Great Lakes freighter and personally issued a ticket to the ship for spewing smoke from its stacks, he was declaring war on all lake pollution. Smaller craft also are being policed to control the disposal of waste materials into the lake. He said the diversion valve on a craft must be sealed at all times when a boat is in Chicago's waterways and harbors. Poston said no mooring permits will be issued to any boats in 1971 if they are equipped with retention tanks and diversion valves. Diversion valves must be removed and through the hull opening sealed with a metal plate or other approved device.

Mrs. Zimmerman SECOR (PNS) Mrs. Clara M. Zimmerman, 69, died at 11:15 p.m. Saturday at her home.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Otto-Argo Funeral Home, Eureka, and at 10:30 a.m. at Roanoke Mennonite Church. The Rev. Harold Zehr will officiate and burial will be in Mackinaw Dells Cemetery at Congerville.

Visitation will be 3-5; 7-9 o'clock tonight. She was born Sept. 1, 1900, in LaFayette, a daughter of Albert and Lettie Thornell Meekins. She married Theo Zimmerman April 14, 1928, in LaFayette, Ind. Surviving are her husband; two sons, Eugene and Raymond, both of Eureka; three daughters, Mrs.

Frank Buerge, Garden City, Mrs. Eugene Zoss, Roanoke; and Mrs. John Ulrich, Oklahoma City, a brother, William Meekins, Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Davis and Mrs. Emeline Hinchman, both of LaFayette, and 19 grandchildren.
