Flo Funk, Sec. Barner School Closed. Last Friday occurred the closing day exercises of the Barner school, taught by Geo. Hitt. The exercises, consisting of a general program, were listened to by a large number of the patrons and friends of the school.

A feast of good things was prepared by the good ladies, after which the program was rendered. As a token of his admiration for the pupils Mr. Hitt presented each with a handsome souvenir. In turn he was presented with a fountain pen. Abe Dalley made the presentation speech.

The Old and New. Last Thursday night the old council met and gave way to the new. All the business was closed in good shape and after a good record, turning over as much money as when they took their office, the mayor and members of the council feel satisfied with their efforts and with few regrets bade city govern ment adieu. Immediately upon the old coancil ad journing the new mayor and council took their offices. Mayor Mordy had no long speech to deliver, preferring to let his actions be proof as to his record daring his term.

He appointed as Finance committee Conncilmen Hyraer, Constant and Funk as Street and Alley committee Councilmen Wallace, Hatfield and W. B. Wallace was elected president of the council. Upon motion by Councilman Hatfield and seconded by Coucilman Hym- er, the kxwb was chosen the official city paper for- the ensuing year and it was so declared by Mayor Mordy. The salary of the marshal, Thos.
