Knox County. Illinois. 3T. were co-managers of the Tigers this year. Last Spring Davison set what is believed to be a strikeout record in state high school tournaments.

He fanned Austin batters in seven innings to insure Springfield third place in the tournament. Mike's brother, Ricky, a high school junior, caught him almost every game he pitched the last two year s. Dennis Hammcr- schmidt caught Mike earlier. Mike started some basketball games as a sophomore. He was a regular each of his last two seasons.

As junior he was named an all-district guard. Last season he was named the KNUJ player of the week, was selected for the Seven Star all-conference team, was named to the District 10 team and was selected for the WCCO all-state team. Posts Scoring Mark He holds Springfield high school's individual scoring record in basketball, 42 points, against Walnut Grove there last winter. Mike's father, Pat, a righthand- ed pitcher, came up with a sore arm when he was under contract to the Chicago Cubs. Pat was widely known as a pitcher in AA and A ball in Minnesota and Iowa after his years in organized ball, in tho Class AA Southern association and the Class Western league.

That Mike inherited a great deal of athletic potential is indicated by the fact that his mother won the women's championship of Springfield Golf club the second year she played the game. She has missed very few of the games Mike has pitched the last five years. She has scored many of them, often as the official scorer. Finds 'Wonderful Shortly before leaving to start toward a career in physical education and a chance to become a major league pitcher Mike remarked, "The directors of Springfield Baseball association are a bunch of wonderful guys who try to do everything for you. I enjoyed playing under Springfield's managers and coaches, Alva Gisvold, Eddie Albertson, Pete Locke, Walter Rempel, Norm Wilson and my dad.
