Grantham ALGONA Mrs. John Hopkins ALGONA "Salad Dressings" was the Recipa Contest classification for this past week's entries, and again the U. S. Mails brought in envelopes and postcards from a wide area . . . each coriiaining one or more dressing recipes. The board of judges had to bear down on this particular classification, since the many recipes for "salad dressings" got real technical. In the finals, two ladies came out on top — Frances D. Grantham and Mrs John Hopkins, both of Algona. Their unusual salad dressings are given at the left, and both ladies are being sent checks for S5.00 as first place award winners this week. With the weather getting into the brisk stage, and fall in the air, next week's classification — Soups — should find great favor with the hundreds of good cooks in the area. The judges in the Algona Merchants-Upper Des Moines Recipe Contest are looking forward to a real tough job in selecting an award winner — or maybe two — in the Soups classification. Send your favorite recipe (or more than one) to the Recipe Contest Editor. Algona Upper Des Moines, Algona. Iowa. Please print your name and address clearly with your recipe.
