-r, ' ???;- 'W^ ????????.''''??? ,.-5; u??iMfewii Vol. 3. No. 49. ELTBIA. OHIO, MOXDAY, AUGUST 31 19O3. Price One Cent. $3535 PER MILE THE AMOUNT FOR WHICH SIX MILES OP ROAD IMPROVEMENT ON MAIN STREETS OUT OF MEDINA VILLAGE HAS BEEN CONTRACTED??? A DECIDED STEP FOR BETTER ROADS IN OUR NEIGHBORING COUNTY. The people of, Medina county are in the very fore-front of the good roads movement. A special good road's district has been '??? formed including the village of .Medina and the four townships immediately, surrounding, York, Medina, MontyHle and Lafayette. They have awarded the contract for six miles of the best blue limestone macadamized road, distributed over four of the leading country roads coming into Medjna. The contract was given to Gust "V. Harry of Lykens, Crawford county for $3,535 per mile, this being the lowest bid. While this bill is considered high, it is said to be accounted for by the fact that materials nd labor have increased in price of late. The limestone is to be crushed and rolled, making a firm road bed, instead of being damped loosely on as in the case of most of the, stone roads. They plan in a few years to have all the main roads in the special district macadamized in this way, and, eventually, all cross roads are to be treated in like mananer.
