She and her working-class NYC hubby (Tony Denison) juggle shift jobs, surly kids and their own "Leave It to Beaver" yearnings. Looks sharp (love those romantic moments on the fire escape), but it all plays a little too loud to make much impact. COMMON LAW 9:30 p.m. on ABC 7 Greg Giraldo makes the standup-to-sitcom move with surprisingly lively results: His feel.

This one's hard to pigeonhole, but easy to like. PROFILER 10 p.m. on NBC 4 NBC's "Sisters" hour welcomes another woman with a man's name, forensic psychologist Sam (Ally Walker). In this dark and brooding tale, she both stalks creepy criminals and is stalked herself by the one who killed her husband. Tough show to get a handle on: The breadth and depth of its women's roles is welcome, but Walker seems a bit distant as the lead.

Producers say the series evolves over its first few episodes. on SKIES NBC 4 Conspiracy theorists alert! Two idealistic Kennedy-era kids (Eric Close and Megan Ward) go to Washington and discover icky alien invaders are running the show. As our heroes run for their lives, we learn Roswell was real and the space folks killed JFK. The movie pilot (directed by Tobe Hooper) throbs with intense action, but how long can they sustain this speculation game? Or the period flavor? EARLY EDITION 9 p.m. on CBS 2 Reluctant everyman Kyle Chandler mysteriously starts receiving tomorrow's newspaper today, enabling him to affect future events for the better in this feel-good hour. Though the details may be fuzzy (football played on Tuesday this show's heart is crystal clear and always in the right place.

conservative dad Gregory Sierra), ethnic references (he's told he's not "Hispanic eccentric friends and a live-in relationship that manifests a distinctly "Mad About You" 8 SEPT. 8 14,1996 love life earnest, emotional, effusive, and primed to be even more whiny. Kimberly Williams meets the guy of her dreams (David Conrad) in Europe and comes home to find her dull fiance trying harder. What's a girl to do? Amid the dithering, some finely etched portraits of family life (hers is loving, his is problematic) hit the bull's-eye..
