John M. Daling, one of the substantial farmers of the Big Bend country, has moved down from Douglas and will make his home here during the winter. His two sons and a daughter will attend the business college in this city. Mr. Daling has 1,000 acres of fall wheat planted, all of which is in fine shape.

The farmers in that section feel that the crops raised this year without rain proves that they have the best wheat proposition on earth. The ladies of the W. R. C. will serve their annual dinner at Sprague hall Friday, November 4.

W. E. Mills, one of the members of the firm of Milot-Mills, is in the city, having arrived here a few days ago from a trip to Europe. Mr. Mills has been in Montana for a number of years while his partner, Mr.

Milot, has attended to the business here. He will take up his residence here permanently and will erect a residence next spring. Miss Alice Clark, of Waterville, came down yesterday and will attend the business college during the coming winter months. Hallowe'en was celebrated in this city last night, not only by the young boys and girls but by the older people as well. Many married parties were out until late al night.

The police report little damage done other than the fact that Chief Inscho was obliged to lose several hours of valuable sleep. Glasses fitted. Dr. Zener, Halbert block. The local contractors are losing a good many lanterns.

The ordinances require all street cuts to be signalized by the placing of lanterns, and these are being carried off so rapidly that the local stores report a shortage. City Engineer Ward was in receipt of cards a few days ago announcing the birth of a son to Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Switzer.

Portland, Nov. E. Pottage, a contractor, today shot and killed Frank Porter, an engineer whom he had discharged yesterday. Pottage engaged a man to take Porter's place and when the new man reported for work today, Porter refused to let him work. A dispute followed and Porter draw a revolver.
