The babe will be buried this morning at 11 o'clock.

Following are some of those who will attend the big suit of Dr. Miller against the Milwaukee at Kansas City today: Judge Broaddus, J. G. Wynne, B. S.

He said tbat Mr. Johnson had been there but was not. However, he thinks the cheeky rascal will be roped in before long. Telegrams were dispatched from C.

Messrs. J. E. Wait, E. J.

Broad- lus and L. A. Chapman were present. This is the committee appoint id to present certain objections to he existing franchise. Judge Broaddus said among other hings tbat neither the city or the company were safe in taking the ranchise; neither were protected by ts provisions.

IFor instance, he said any party interested might go into court and restrain thorn. It ia my deliberate opinion, said the judge, bat the city will be injured if the present franchise is not altered. Continuing he said that the city conld not change the grades. Fur tbcr tbe law requires and compels what streets the tracks shall be laid on. Under it they can have a mo nopoly, lay several tracks and adc the streets.

Wait said there were insuperable objections to the franchise and that bis opinion it should be withdrawn and a new one drafted. Chapman then made a few remarks but his main point in which the city attorney concurred was tbat the dinonce must conform to the state aw, and read a section or two on tba matter. Mr. Lloyd said that some objections bad been made because a clause regulating the rate of speed and fan was not inserted. Ho had no objec tions to said omissions being inserted As to the time of running: The can would be put on at 6 a.

Since the last cold snap the farmers have quit talking about sowing oats. Mrs. Martha Sbipp, an old resident of Grand River township died at her home, about 2 1-2 miles Southeast of Avalon, on Tuesday the Feb. 25, of paralysis. She was the relative of Obed Sblpp, who died several years ago, She married Joseph Sbipp, a brother of her former husband, about a year and a half ago, She was interred at Avalon cemetery on Thursday the 27 of Febuary.

She was a kind and affectionate wife and mother.and a gosd neighbor. Tbe grip has left, but measles are going the rounds. Mrs. Alma Shipp NEE Brier, will commence a term of shool at Shan- condalo on the 3 inst. In my last, I stated that they had made 2d or 3d assessment at Bale's butter and cheese factory, I was misinformed it was the first assess ment.

Mr. D. M. Marlow, bought a quarter of beef and retailed it out at his store in Hale, for which he was fined about S21, costs and all. Mr.

Marlow has done as much as anyone else to build up tbe city, and now he is not in the best of humor. Mr. Lester, took stock in tbe old bank of Bale, instead of the new one. Marion Cash, of Illinois has rented the late W. H.
