The session has been a successful one and much credit is due the splendid corps of teachers for the noticeable progression. It is to be hoped they may all be induced to remain another year. If Ritzville is to have an old-fashioned, bang up, fourth of July celebration that will make the welkin ring, the initial steps should be taken early and before our neighboring sister towns, who may become tired waiting 011 us, take up the subject themselves. There is every reason now why we should observj Independenceday with high spirit. Mr.

IN meMORiAn. Tribute to the Memory of Little Lester King. (Published by request.) Harry Lester, son of J. H. and E.S.

King, was born Jan. 23, 1880. Died April 23, 1899, at 8 p. being at tf.e time of his death, nine years and three moots old. He was taken sick March 9, and lived nine weeksmnd three days, suffering untold agony with inflatnation of brain.

He bore his sufferings with as much patience as one of fiis years could. He told his mamma the tirst'iiight of his sickness that he was going to die, and all that his friends could do, with the aid of Dr. Oris wold, the family physician, aided by Urs. Nincent and Cole, of Pe.ulleton, to stay the dread disease was of no avail. (tod alone knows lonely we are without the dear little one who was always the life of the household full of fun and go nature' We miss him wherever we go empty chair, the silent room, his toys and pets all say too plainly that Lester is Twice during his illness he tried to sing: "Jesus, lover of my soul, Let me to thy bosom liy, While the nearer roll, While the tempest still is high." As we watched by his bedside The ng, lonely night, How we prayed God to spare; To send back the death Angel Who, almost in sight, But waited the signal to bear Our child angel upwaid To him who did say: "Let them come unto me." But as we gazed lie was taken away To a land where our eyes cannot sec.

But we'll trust him with Jesus, For well do we know, That a promise has He given That He'll take from the snar And temptations below Ami keep them safely in heaven. Oh, then we'll press onward While cheered by the thought That our Lester is just gone before. When his jewels are numbered We'll not be forgot, But together we'll dwell forevermore. Nellie Kino.
