Black, City Clerk. RESOLUTION. State of Washington,) County of Resolution of the City Council of the City of Aberdeen. pbe amble. Whereas, it appears to the City Council of the City of Aberdeen that Second Street from east line of Lot 9, Block 23, to Wisbkab river and Harbor Street from Front Street to Second Street, Benn's original Plat of Aberdeen, in the City of Aberdeen, are in need of improvement: And, whereas, it is the opinion of the City Council that said Second Street and Harbor street, as above indicated as aforesaid, should be improved by filling said Second Street from East line of Lot, 9, block 23, to Wishkati River, and Harbor Street front First Sir jet to Second Street, with saw-dust, in the ordinary way, and by building of a sidewalk 8 feet wide on each side of said Harbor Street from Front Street to Second Street of plank or timber according to the following specifications so as to conform with the established grade on said streets, to-wit; Specifications for Sidewalk.

MUD SILLS I to be two inches thick inches wide 8 feet long, good and sound fir, laid tiansvereelv to the street eight feet apart on a good and- solid foundation so that all parts of the under surface touches the ground. POSTS to be 3x6 of good sound fir, free from unsound knots, pitch seams, worm holes and all descriptions of decay, to be toe nailed to mud siUs with at least two thirty penny nails and to be of sufficient length to bring stringers to within two inches of top of grade and braced as per diagram hereto attached which is made part of these specifications. BBACEB to be Ix 4 good sound fir free from knots and all other imperfections, to be spiked to posts with at least two ten penny nails in each post. STRINGERS To be of good sound fir, free from all unsound and black knots, three inches thick and six inches wide and no less than sixteen feet long spiked to each post with at least one thirty penny nail, to be an equal distance apart commencing six inches from the outside edge of street line and no two joints to be on the same bent, joints to be square and even and have an equal bearing on the post. PLANKING to be one and fifteen sixteenths inches thick, 8 feet long of good sound fir free from shakes, waynes, black, loose or onsound knots, worm notes and all other descriptions ot decay, surfaced on one side, laid rough side up so as to make an even surface, to be spiked to each stringer with two thirty penny nails both the inside and outside edges to be sawed even, nails to be driven so that the top of the head will be below surface of the plank.

All work to be done in a thorough and workmanlike manner to the satisfaction of the Street Commissioner or the inspector in charge. And, whereas, it appears to the said City Council that the costs of Baid improvements, exclusive of street and alley crossings, shonld not exceed the sum of $1.75 per lineal foot for filling, and, including street and alley crossings, tlie total costs should not exceed the sum of 50 cents per lineal foot for sidewalks. Now, therefore, in consideration of the premises, he it resolved by the said City Council of the Citvof Aberdeen, in regular session assembled, that it be, and that it is the intention of the City Council of said city, to improve the said Second Street and Harbor Street as indicated in the City of Aberdeen, as aforesaid, by filling said Second Street from East line of Lot 0, Block 23, to Wishkah river, and Harbor Street from First Street to Second Street, with sawdust in the ordinary way, and by building of a sidewalk on each side of said Harbor street from Front Street to Second Street, of plank or timber in the ordinary way so as to conform with the established grade upon said streets; And, it is further resolved by the said City Council of the said Citvof Aberdeen that it is the intention of tne said Council to assess the cost of the said improvement. when made, against the property, lots, or parcels ot land in said city, abutting upon said street, and upon each side thereof, between the points above designated. And, be it further resolved by the said City Council that the lots, lands, and parcels of lands abutting upon the said street and upon each Bide thereof between the points above designated, shall constitute the assessment district for such improvement; which lots, lands or parcels of lands are more particularly described as follows, For filling of said streets with sawdust, Lots 10,11 and 12, Block No.

23; Lots No's. 1,2, 3 and 4 Block 27; Lots No's. 7. 8, 9, 10, Hand 12 Block 24; Lots No's. 10,11 and 12, Block 25; Lots No's.

1,2, 3,4,5 and 6, Block 26; Lots No's. 1,2, 3,4,5 and 6, Block 27; Lots 1,2 and 3, Block Lot 6, Block 25: Lot 1, Block 24. For building of sidewalks, Lots 6 and 7, Block 25; Lots 1 and 12, Block 24, Lots 1 and 12, Block 10; Lots 6 and 7 Block 18. All in Bennt Original Plat of Aberdeen, Chehalis County, Washington. And, be it further resolved, that the 24tb. day of November 1900, be and the same hereby is designated and appointed as a time when, ana within which protests and objections may be made against the said proposed improvements, and as a time when the said City Council will hear and consider any and all protests and objections. RESOLUTION OF CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ABERDEEN. State op op Chehalis. PREAMBLE. Whereas, it appears to the City Council of the City of Aberdeen that dume street from Michigan avenue to Washington street, in the City of Aberdeen, is Tn need of improvement; and Whereas, it in the opinion of the City Council that said Hume street between the points above indicated as aforesaid, be improved by the building thereon or thereat and fn the middle of said street of a plank roadway, same to be constructed of three inch plank of twelve inches wide, and upon good and substantial foundation, and of the widtli of twenty feet in the center of the street, and according to plans and specifications now on file with the city clerk, so as to conform with the established grade on said street; and Whereas, it appears to the said City Council that the costs of said improvement, excluding street' and alley crossings, should not exceed the sum of $1.76 per lineal foot, and including street and alley crossings, the total costs should not exceed the sum of $1.75 per lineal foot. Now, therefore, in consideration of the premises, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Aberdeen, in regular session assembled, that it be, and that it is the intention of the said City Council, to improve the said Hume street between the points above indicated in the City of Aberdeen as aforesaid, by the building thereon or thereat, and in the middle of said street of a plank adway, same to be constructed of three inch plank twelve inches wide, and upon good and substantial foundation, and of the width of twenty feet in the center of said street, and in accordance with the plans and specifications now on file with the city clerk, so as to conform with the established grade upon said street.

And, it is further resolved by the said City Council of the said City of Aberdeen, that it is the intention of the said Council to assess the cost of the said improvement, when made, against the property, lots, or parcels of land in said city, abutting upon said street, and upon each side thereof, between the points above designated. And, be it further resolved by the said Council that the lots, lands and parcels of lands abutting upon the said street, and upon each side thereof between the points above designated shall constitute the assessment district for such improvement; which lots, lands, or parcels of lands are more particularly described as follows, to-wit: Lots Nos. 1,2,3,4,5 and 6, in block 81; lots Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, in block 82; lots Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, in block 83; lota Nos.

7,8,0,10,11 and 12, in block 78; lots Nos. 7, 8,0,10.11 and 12, in block 10; lots Nos. 7,8,9,10,11 and 12, in block 80, Weatherwax Bonn's Second addition to the City of Aberdeen, Chehalis county, Washington, according to the recorded plat thereof. Ail of which above described lands, or premises, are situate, lying and being in the county of Chehalis, state of Washington. And, be it further resolved, that the Ist day of December, 1900, be and the same hereby js designated and appointed asa time when, and within and objections may be made against the said proposed improvements, and as a time when the said City Council will hear and consider any and all protests and objections.

A. Black, City Clerk. NOTICE FOR BIDS. Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Aberdeen, will receive bids 8 o'clock p. m.

of December 1900, for the enlargement and repair of the city jail of said city, in accoidance with the following specifications, to-wit: Specifications for Aberdeen City Jail. SIZE or BUILDINO. There is to be built in the rear of the present jail an addition thereto, the same width as the present building and 24 feet long, well joined to the old jul in a workmanlike manner, under and according to the direction of the architect in charge of the work, and in accordance with the plans. FOUNDATION. The old building is to be raised up, so that the top of the floor shall be six inches above the grade of the alley; a new foundation to be placed under the same and extended back 24 feet to receive new addition.

Mud sills to be bedded on the ground in a thorough manner, and the whole to conform to the plans referred to. SILLS. There will be three sills, to conform to the sills of the old building and as shown on plan. FLOOR. The floor will be made of 2x6 fir sized two ways, placed on edge and spiked with one 40 penny nail each twelve Inches: in alternate boards to be driven so as to be in the center between the nails in the preceding board.

On top of this floor is to be laid a floor of Ix 6 T. A O. flooring! WALLS. Walls will be built in the same manner as the walls of the old jail, as shown on plans, all 2x6 and 2x4 used therein to be sized two ways and nailed as herein specified for nailing floor. Outside of walls will be covered with 6 inch rustic to conform to the construction of the old jail building.

CEILING. The ceiling will be constructed in the same manner as the ceiling of the old building and so as to conform thereto, all material used therefor to be sised two ways and nailed as hereinbefore specified for nailing floor and walls. DOOaS AND WINDOWS. Doors will be built in same manner and of same size as the doors now in old jail, for cell doors. Corridor doors will be made in same manner and of thesisea marked on plans.

Hangings and fasteners will be of same kind now in use in old Windows and gratings therefor will be 1 of the same size and atyle aa those in old jail. VIMTILATOM. Two openings 2xlo inches will be left in the ceiling of each room or cell, for ventilation, and the small ventilator now on roof will be put in thorough repair. soor. Roof will be extended to cover new addition and the ahingles on the old roof will all be removed and then the whole roof will be covered with Star A Star ahingles laid five inches to the weather HSLSNA BUTTS MINNEAPOLIS PAUL ea.tYYouth PORTLAND CALIFORNIA JAPAN ALASKA WI at and nailed with tvo 3 penny galvanised wire nails in each shingle.

FINALLY. The whole building will be put in per feet repair throughout, including two coats of paint, of good quality, on the outside of walls ana one coat of mineral paint on the roof. The inside of the whole structure, including the old part, will receive a thorough coat of whitewash. IN CONCLUSION. These specifications and plans referred to herein are to be interpreted together, and are intended to cover everything necessary in the making of the repairs and addition to said jail.

Whether mentioned or omitted the same must be furnished, and finished, by the contractor, to the satisfaction of the architect, in a good and workmanlike manner, and according to these specifications. The lumber used in the walls will be good common rustic, and flooring will be No. one. After building is completed all refuse must be removed from tne premises. Plans to above specifications are now on file at my office.

Each bid must be accompanied by a bond in the sum of $200.00, conditioned that the bidder will enter into contract with and furnish a good and sufficient bond to said city, conditioned for the faithful performance of his contract provided he is the successful bidder. The city reserves the right to reject any and all bids. Given pursuant to resolution and direction of the City Council. Dated Aberdeen, Nov. 19th, 1300.
