TIFFIN TRIBUNE, FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 1869. TIFFIN TRIBUNE FEDIAT MOEmC, JiOT.Se 1SC.9. Local and Miscellaneous. Ecni rids Circulation, 1JW0 Local and Miscellaneous. The Toledo Weekly Paper.

Of the mammoth Weekly piKut, organ of Rev. Petroleum V. Nasby, rank among the best. Its eight broad pages are filled with the choicest reading matter, and in typographical i has no superior and few equals. The rich and racy letters of Petrol- eum V.

Nasby are written expressly for the Blade-, and always appear first in its columns. Nothing in the Hoe of humorous literature has ever attained the popularity of these letters. Mr. Nasby is now engaged on an original novel, which will be published in the Blade during the coming year. These, with, other rare attrac-in coarse of preparation, ought io largely increase its already enormous circulation.

We will furnish the and Blade to all subscribers one year for $3 25. Such as are already subscribers to the Teibexe can secure the Blade at the above rates by paying all arrears and one year in advance. Thasksoivisg day was generally observed iu this city. A Urge number of boats were wrecked on the Ohio and Mississippi rivers during the storm of lat week Court adjourned Tuesday last. It will convene next Tuesdiy, with Judge Mott on the Bench.

Wx give an advertisement setting forth the merits of Godcy's Lady's Baok. The advertisement of tbe New York Observer will be found elsewhere. It is an excellent paper. A little child oi Mr. 2d Ward, on Taesday, pulled a tub of hot water over her, scalding her considerably.

Barney Welter's little child burned itself on Tuesday, by overturning a coffee pot of hot coffee np-cn it not dangerously, but severely. It will make the bridge much more durable, but does not improve its beauty much. It gives the bridge, at a distance, the appearance of an overgrown Saratoga trunk without handles. The Supper and Concert given by the Lutheran Church of this city, on Thanksgiving night at National Hall, was a success in every respect. The music was good, and the supper excellent. The total receipts amounted to $207 net $137.

The net proceeds of the Turner Entertainment, at National Hall, Saturday night last, were betweon $35 and $40. A large number of citizens were in attendance. The entertainment, instrumental, music, singing and gymnastie exercise, was excellent, and gave general satisfaction. Letter Heads. Nothing looks more business-like than a business letter, written upon a business sheet of paper, headed ith a neatly printed business head, printed io plain neat business style, on good business paper, at the live business office of the Trrnx Tribuke.

That's business. Holidays Coming. Those of our friends who intend to sell holiday goods ornamental, useful or play-! foJ should bear in mind that by advertising in the Tribune, they can bring their wares before the whole people. Remember that no paper in Northwestern Ohio, outside the large cities, has as large a circulation as the Tribune. Advertise your holiday goods.

We publish iu anotner column or tnis paper a statement of the standing of the old Mutual Life Insurance Co.

of New York. We notice that 3Ir. J. R. Umsted has been given the Agency of this Company.

It is thoroughly re liable, and all our friends wanting life insurance cannot do better than i to call on Mr. Umsted. Heidelberg College. The Fall Term of Heidelberg College, closed on Tuesday of this week. There were about 130 students in attendance during the term in the College and Seminary.

The Winter Term opened on Wednesday, and will continue sixteen weeks. A large accession of new students is expected. Lectured. From the Norwalk Rejlecior, we learn that the people of that plaee are awake to the pleasure and usefulness of lectures. They are to have lectures from Rev.

Steph en n. Tyng, Rev. Dr. O. H.

Tiffany, Hon. E. B. Fairchild, Anna E. Dickinson, Paul DuChailla, the African explorer and of Gorilla notoriety, and Theodore Tilton, besides several others.

A goodly array. The Great Western Glee Club have been giving concerU in towns about cs. They have given entertainments in Flat Rock, Melmore and Carey. In all but Melmore, they were greeted with good houses they would have had the same there, but there was a misunderstanding as to their coming. Their concerts gave good satisfaction.

We learn that they will give a concert in this city shortly after the holidays. Leg Brokex. A son of Dr. Mc-Collum met with a severe accident on Tuesday last He, with several other boys, was "sliding down hill" near the Union School House, using for the purpose a disearded watering trough. In one of the rides the trongh turned over and piled the boys one on another, and Pina had his leg broken between the hip and knee.

Bellefontaine and FDrine- fieIfl are becausc of our sensation in arresting engineers and having our Marshal arrested and taken Cleveland. In their agony they predict terrible things to the Marshal, and through him wish to 8ee our city crushed. We protest against such feelings. It is enough tae U. S.

against ns without everybody siding with it. However we would inform all whom it may "worry," that our Mt-rshal stands in no danger whatever. His arrest was a little matter of "spite work'' that's all. WnEELER Wilson Sewing Ma- chines. We learn from the Azeat of the Company that his force of can- vasscrs and adjusters are now here.

and are fairly at work. A great many orders have been left at Hubs' Book Store by those who wish their machines properly adjusted, or want more thoroughtinstruction, or, having a preference for this popular machine, wish to make an exchange. We learn that the best of satisfaction is given in every case. They are selling large numbers; and, as they will stay but a short time, those' who wish to see them had better call soon. 1wrV Severe Accident.

We learn that Mr. Daniel Huddle met with a severe accident on' Wednesday last, while engaged in hulling clover. The huller was running when he attempted to start the feed belt, just back of the belt that runs the cylinder, when the latter caught the sleeve of his coat and drew his arm in between the belt pulley and the machine, a space of less than half of an inch. The arm was mashed badly and torn off all but the skin, a little below the elbow. It stopped the machine suddenly, notwithstanding ten horses were attached to the horse power.

Several minutes transpired befor Mr. H. could be released from his ierrible position. Dr. O'Conner was called, who amputated the arm far enough below the elbow to allow the use of the joint.

Recruits. The following named parties enlisted at the recruiting rendezvous in this city, last week, and oa Saturday night were sent forward to Newport, Ky. John Wright, Alonza G. Dix, Thomas Gorman, Geo. Snyder, Peter Boon, Aaron E.

The former is an indentured apprentice of ours, but we presume he thought he had rather serve Uncle Sam, by being a "bould sojer than to finish his time with us, but about three months remaining. Without question, all of them will wish themselves back to our city before many days.

I for of F. W. THORNHILL, Speaker of the House Representatives. Speaker of the House Representatives. J.

C. LEE. President of the Senate. Passed May 4, 1869. Confidence Operation.

The fools, old or young, are not all dead yet, as the following item from the Norwalk Rcjlectcr shows: Mooroeville Station seems to be a resort for confidence gentlemen, and their operations withal are generally successful. A few weeks since we gave an account of one of their dodges on an unsuspecting youth, and now comes a correspondent from Ripley, who relates that an old gentleman bv the name of Blakeman, 73 years of age, who resides near Clyde, Wayne County, New York, while wai ting for the train in Monroeville, a few days since, fell in company with a stranger who repre sented that he was go ing directly to Clyde in fact, that he lived there, and that they would reach that place in the night, he would take the old gentleman home with him, and might stay there till morning and welcome. About this time, an individual, claiming to be a Railroad agent, approached them and demanded of the stranger pay for the transportation of two car loads of goods. Confidence man had nothing but a United States bond, which, of course, the "agent" could not change, when the former turned to the old gentleman and requested a loan, which he would 'epay on arrival at their destination. Twenty dollars were produced, and confidence man taking it, departed with the "agent' to make out a receipt, leaving the old gentleman to wait for his return, which he did until it popped into his head that he wad sold.

Mr. B. took the matter philosophically, and said nothing, but found his way to the south part of this County, where he had a relative living, borrowed some money, and wended his way homeward as fast as steam could carry him, leaving many of his lriends destitute of a good old fashioned visit.
