The song I would like you to play is "La Bamba" by Los Lobos. If you give tapes or records away, I would like one. Dear Nick Rocks. I am writing to say I think you are great. I watch Nick Rocks every day.

I was wondering if you could play the video by George Michael, "I Want Your Sex." You are the best. Love, Denise. tian" from The Bangles. Finally, I'd like to bear "Look What the Cat Dragged In" from Poison. Dear Sir or Madam: I am writing in concern to the Monkees latest video.

I was very disappointed to see it drop in your countdown. Please play it more. Thanks, Gail Nick Rocks! My name is Robert. My age is 10. I would like to hear "Never Surrender" by Corey Hart.

I told my friends you would read this on TV. Please! Please! Please! Please! READ THIS ON TV! Dear Nick Rocks, Please play "I Miss You" by Klymaxx, ''Crazy For You" by Madonna and "Only In My Dreams" by Debbie Gibson. P.S. Write me when you can. Nick Rocks.

I would die without Bon Jovi. Love, Evan, age 9. Hi, Nick Rocks, My name is Howard. Play "Is This Love" from Whitesnake. This is the first time I asked.

I think your show is the coolest. I am 8 year What do kids want? That, Dr. Freud, is the question for the programmers of Nickleodeon, the children's cable network. MTV's baby sister station reaches 34 million households and about nine grownups. Every day after school, the pre-Clearasu set receives its daily dose of music video on "Nick Rocks." That show has found a way to learn what kids really want: It asks them.

"Nick Rocks" receives 5,000 to 6,000 request letters each week, and chooses its play list by popularity poll. Here's a peek at the taste of tomorrow's rock 'n' rollers (The letter writers' name have been changed to protect their privacy.) Dear Nick Rocks: My name is Diana. I am 9 years old and in fourth grade. I am 5 feet tall and like to read. Every time I can, I watch your show.

My favorite songs is "Carrie" from Europe. I also like "Walk Like an Egyp- FRAMING I LA YAW AY NOW FOR CHRISTMAS! I Jared Martin soaps had the corner on dumb plot twists and total lack of class. We're sad to report that Betty Corday, 75, co-creator of "Days of Our Lives," passed away last month. She and her husband, Ted Corday, created "DOOL" back in 1965. She became the show's executive producer after her husband died two years later and remained in that position until her death.

She always billed herself "Mrs. Ted Corday" in the show's crawl years after that kind of billing went out of fashion. Her son Ken remains the show's co-executive producer. By CONNIE PASSALACQUA Nineteen eighty-eight looks like it might be the year of "One Life to Live." After lota of tinkering by the show's ever-competitive executive producer, Paul Rauch, it has become a firm No. 2 in the ratings, and Rauch clearly is looking to make it No.

1. Next month, he will introduce a special, Buchanan "back in time" remote, which promises to equal "OLTL's" successful "heaven's sequence last spring. This time around, Rauch has stacked the deck in his favor by casting a Western-flavored nighttime name. He's Jared Martin, formerly of "Dallas," who will play Donald LaMarr, a special prosecutor. LaMarr is originally from Nevada and will probably complicate the life of Llanview's former happy hooker Lee Sanders (wonderfully played by Janet Zarish).

On "Dallas," the handsome Martin's Dusty Farlow was once the rodeo lover of Sue Ellen Ewing (played by Linda Gray). You may recall that Sue Ellen and Dusty's love survived a plane crash, but couldn't quite overcome Dusty's crash-induced impotence. Then, in one of the dumbest nighttime plot twists ever, Dusty was cured after he left Sue Ellen to go out on the rodeo circuit again, although no one bothered to tell us how. The last time he was seen in Southfork was when he came back with a new bride in tow to say "howdy" to his pa Clayton (played by Howard Keel) and to further infuriate ever-euff erin' Sue Ellen. Martin also is famous for sharing what may be the worst screen moment in the worst movie ever.

That was when his movie-star character raped aspiring screenwriter Pia Zadora in the shower in 1964's classic stinker "The Lonely Lady," based on the Harold Robbins novel of the same name.
