Ellis, Sec'y. Camp Meeting near Danville. -tThe preparations for, the Meeting, near Danville, to commence on the 6th of August, are rapidly go ing forward, and from the interest manifested by the members of the E. Church, and the public generally, the Meeting bids fair to be very largely attended. The grounds selected are of easy access, by a good turnpike, are well shaded and watered, and at a convenient distance from town, all of which should insure a general attendance of our citizens, as well as those of the surrounding country.

The arrangements for the meeting have been principally entrusted to Rev. R. O. Arthur, who has had much experience in such matters, and will spare no efforts to insure the comfort and enjoyment of all who attend. Joseph H.

Creighton, of Del aware, Ohio, who is noted for his sue cessful labors at meetings of this kind, has promised to be present, accompanied by his wife. The Committes of Arrangements have leased the public boarding tent to" Philip Kramer, the well known landlord of the Kramer House, who will furnish refreshments and meals at reasonable prices not to exceed 50 cents for dinner, and probably less for other meals. Several of our citizens have already erected tents, and others intend to do so. The last Camp Meeting in the vicinity of Hillsboro was held near Marshall, about 15 years ago. Religious Notice.

As you have had nothing from the "hub" for some time, I thought I had better write vou a short letter.

And first I would say, we are now re ceiving the "News" right along reg ularly on "Wednesdays, which betok ens enterprise, and pleases us mighti ly. Andjiow friend Boardman, when the thermometer ranges about the nineties, and after following the plow or swinging the cradle all day, we then try to write, while sweating at every pore, the ideas come slowly, and ooze out at the finger ends; so if this letter is not interesting you know the cause, and the waste basket is handy. The health of our township is good. The spring was cold and wet, making planting late, then a drought set in, but-the farmers worked hard with plow and harrow, and although our Corn is short, 'tis looking well, and has been generally well tended, and with the opportune showers that we are having of late, it will make a crop yet Wheat is nearly all in the barn or stack; crop short in quantity but crood in qualitv, making it about equal to last year. Grass is generally light, and not near all cut Oats are very short, and we have commenced cutting them.

There was not much sowed this spring, and we think the crop of Oats and Hay is short throughout the county. There is considerable Tobacco planted in this neighborhood. Ow ing to the dry weather in June we were late planting, but it is looking well, and with attention will make a crop. Potatoes ire doing fiuelyj bugs have been plenty, but we just went for them, and now they are played out and we are having fine potatoes to eat Our Sunday Schools are in a flourishing condition. Our townsman, J.

M. Kay, is building his new store; he has the frame up and expects to occupy it next month. G. H. Diehl has put up a fine pair of Stock Scales, which will be a great convenience.

The bridge over Whiteoak is not done yet, but-the contractor seems I hopeful, and gets a perch or two of stone per week laid in the abutments. He has the walls about half up, so we live in hope of seeing it finished this year. Candidates for the various county offices have made their appearance; the crop seems good. We have bought a chain and tied up our "dorg" in consequence, 'cause he's valuable, and we don't want to lose him. When the weather gets cooler we'll write again.

C.F.B. "Patrons of Petersburg and Centrefield Wide Awake. RUSSELL'S STATION, OHIO. Editor News We are happy to inform you of the successful movement of the farmers in the vicinity of New Petersburg and Centrefield, in the organization of Friendship and also Centrefield Granges of "Patrons of Husbandry." On Wednesday night, July 9th, the farmers in the vicinity of New Petersburg met in the Odd Fellows' Hall, with the fixed determination of business stamped on their countenances. Quite a goodly number of names were procured, and Deputy John W.

The farmers here are fully awake to their interest, and feel the benefits which they will derive from orgauizing will more than doubly reply them for their trouble, and. we feel confident that not many years 'will be numbered with the things of the past until the farmers of these United States will claim their rights in thunder tones, that will arouse the people from the Atlantic to the Pacific, and bring a glorious success to our movement.

We expect this, knowing that He who rules the universe, and has bid us live by the sweat of our brows, is looking on with great compassion, and is aiding us in this grand work of elevation. The following are the officers elect of Centrefield Grangs Master J. W. Brady." Overseer J. H.

A PATRON. From Salem Tp.

PRICETOWN, July 21, 1873. Editor News: As we see but little in your columns from Salem, "I rise' to explain," that we, the good people of Salem are still pursuing the "even tenor of our way," and as it takes all kinds of people to form neighborhood, it seems as if Dame Nature in her munificence, to prevent anything being lacked, has thrown in a few lupemumerariei, and tliev are quietly awaiting a vacancy, while ire are equally anxious for one, so far as they are concerned. To break the monotony of our Uvea, we hope soon to feel the hearty candidatial "shake" and hear the "glad-to-see-you" from some of the worthy office-seekers who are, or at least should be, looking after the interests of "the much-neglected and oft-rejtcted" county offices. So come along, gentlemen. We will give yoa a hearty welcome, bnt we expect you to reciprocate, for we desire that our part of the county shall have a share in the division pf epoib.

We cLial that the UiU efflctS is but just that it strengthens our ticket, and above all insures the preservation of party but where we are numerically weak we will try to be content with small favors. Times are very dull, and money so scarce that to some the sight of a $5 bill would be almost as great a curiosity as the Fiji Mermaid. So hurry up, "Patrons of Husbandry," and do your best to make the farmer's burden lighter. You are on the right rood, and we hope you may succeed in yonr endeavors bnt beware of designing men, for to them can be traced the failure of all movements that would inure to the public good what they cannot rule, they try to kill. D. U. Reply to Brother Spear on the Judgment. Mb. Editor Dear Sir I find in your last number a short article on the "Time or Period of the Judgment" of man, by Brother Spear, of New Vienna, Ohio, I deem it needless for me to bother your readers with a long prelude or exordium but I will say, it is not my desire to nrge a controversy with my Brother on the subject, for there are several idaas in his brevity I heartily to be the truth.

At the same time, I beg leave to d.ffer w.th him on some very important points, which the Brother has conceded to be true without proof. But suppose the Brother has his thunder and lightning canned ready for explosion, through safety valves, for your readers. I have no doubt many of them will be happy to read them at their leisure moments. The importance of the Brother's proposi tion I hope will not fail to be apprehended hr prerr on nf Tour renders, on examina- tion, for it 18 a question we all should be eonallv interested about. It has direct reference, ns all will perceive, to Judgment.

Heaven, Hell and fonr-and-twenty other things do not belong to the periphery of this question. The time and place of Judgment, the Brother has conceded, takes place immediately after the dissolution of this earthly house of ours. -1 call on the Brother for his proof. The Brother affirms. "There is no half-begun Heaven or Hell but the soul enters Heaven or Hell when it leaves the body." But according to the Brother's theory, he should have had, 1st, Death, 2d, Judgment, and then Heaven; but he has! "failed to get the Judgment between Death and Heaven.

I leave this for him to reeon-cile. Again, the Brother has it "We believe that Christ will come and coll his children unto Himself and that all will be raised immortal at death and then finally enter upon their eternal award of rest or woe." hope your readers will not fail to take cognizance of the Brother's language here. He first affirms that there is no half-Heaven or lieu tnat man enters one or tnese places immediately after death; bat at last he has it, when Christ comes they enter into this rest. Come, Brother, fix this up if your first theory be true, yon are wrong in the second. Respectfully.

Db. J. D. RIDINGS. Hollow Town, O.

the W. C. Advocate. Hillsboro Female Progress. A member of the Cincinnati Con ference proposed, last Fall, that he would give a thousand dollars toward the endowment of the Hillsboro Female College, if nine other persons could be found, each of whom would do the same.

The money was to be paid during 1873. The year is half gone, and he is ready to meet- his proposition but where are the nine He now proposes that if five can be found who will give a thousand doll ars each, he will still give one thous and. Or if any one will give five thousand, he will give his one thousand Who will take up this proposi tion One hundred thousand doll ars ought to be raised, and ten thous and, or even six thousand, would be a srood start Hon. John A. Smith, President of the Board of Trustees, is willing to pledge Hillsboro for ten thousand dollars, if ninety thousand dollars can be raised in other places.

Here, now, are "two propositions, both of which should be successful. Some progress has been made. Let not despair that the whole work will be accomplished. The Cincinnati Conference should tike up the sub ject, at the meeting at Springfield, in August and put it through. There is wealth enough in Southern Ohio to endow this College, and it ought to be done.
