[CHAMPLIN TEST FLEET ARRIVES HERE FRIDAY; TO APPEAR AT RUSS & KVS FRIDAY NIGHT When Six All-White Cars * -K * ' Expected in Algona About P.M. Friday Really a "Laboratory On Wheels" - Will Make Special Appearance Here Wearing white Champlin uni- [ forms and crash helmets, six young men will roll into Algona I in six all-white cars Friday after[noon along about 4:00 P.M. They J will be headed for Russ & Ky's I Champlin Station on State Street, [and when they arrive there will [be a wealth of interesting and fascinating things for you to see [and ask about. In fact, spectators who come to I Russ & Ky's will be witnesses to I the making of a new, superior [motor fuel, for this great White I Fleet is engaged in covering 8.000 [miles in sleek new automobiles, [recording and analyzing and mak- [ing constant checks every mile of I the way. All Skilled Driver-Researchers The six young men driving in I the White Fleet a°re all thoroughly [schooled in automotive engines land fuels and are actually rc- jsearchers-back-of - the - wheels. 1 With special testing devices in- Lstalled especially for Champlin jb'y Ethyl Corporation's Detroit, [Mich, laboratory, these test driv- [ers while on the road are con- [stantly checking performance of I different gasoline blends. By merely flipping a switch, the driver -in these cars change from one fuel tank to another, thereby testing a different gasoline. Champlin laboratory technicians accompany the drivers, recording data. This material is to be analyzed and used by Champlin in processing a superior motor fuel. Drivers Are College Men The six young drivers in the' White Fleet are all college men, who will attend a university or college in the South this fall. They have all been trained, from the ground up, in refinery methods, ani3 arc driving sleek new cars that are loaded with research equipment. Public Cordially Invited During the appearance of the Champlin White Fleet here Friday, the public is invited to visit. Russ & Ky's Champlin Station on Stale street and inspect the fleet. It is expected 'that the fleet will roll into town on its regular schedule of 4:00 P. M. Friday afternoon. Swea-Eagle FFA Chapter Attends Cattle Show Swea & Eagle—The following boys of the Swca City FFA Chapter and their instructor, Mr Verlie Niccum, attended a Hoistein show at the Clay County Fairgrounds at Spencer Saturday. The boys who went were: Kevin Thorson. Bob Kaltvcd, Larry Torino, Billy and Robert Wiskus, Alan Clausscn, Dennis Lund, Don Cordes and Larry Looi't. The Everett Ericksons, Dettman oncl John Thompsons, Florence Erickson and Mrs Thomas Brown of Moultrie, Ga, enjoyed a picnic at Okoboji Sunday. Doris Verbrugge, daughter ol Mrs Jou Verbrugge and the late- Joe Verbrugge, and David White of Armstrong will be married Sunday, Aug. 14 at the Methodist church at Armstrong. Mr and Mrs Art Kaltwi nn-l sons attended a Jackson County Saddle Club show at tin? Jackson, Minn, fairgrounds Sunday. Ear! Johnson of Nora Spring? visited last week at the home,' of his brother and his wife, Mr and Mrs Gailcn Joh/ison. Tin; Gailen Johnsons arc moving to Nora Springs this month where he will farm with his lather, Tommy Johnson. Mrs Johnson has been teaching at RingMeK, but will teach at Riceville this fall. Mr and Mrs Ellis Jung berg and Calvin and Donna left Monday for a two week vacation at the Floyd Treat's resort near Brainerd, Minn. Judy and Tommy Hurlbuii, children of Mr and Mrs Mancil Hurlburt spent several days visiting with their grandparents. Mr and Mrs Elmer Nelson, on their farm near Terril. Janet Thackrey of Armstrong spent Thursday afternoon with Churyle Torino. Janet returned Tuesday to the home of her aunt and uncle, Mr and Mrs John Jongberg after spending the pust month visiting Mr and Mrs Arnold McCov at Racine, Wis. and her fiance's parents at Milwaukee, Wis.
