Ii, Court adjourned on Tuesday morn ing, having boon in session just one There wore no jury trials of in terest to the publio. The Grand Jury found only two or three indictments all for minor oflenocs. They refused to And any bill against Baskin for killing West. It will be remembered that the Grand Jury last spring found a bill against him for Manslaughter, which was nolle by the Prosecuting Attorney at the Ootober term of Court, together with all the othor indictments found at the Spring term, on aooount of legal informality iu the manner of drafting the Jurors. The refusal of the Grand Ju ry for the present term to find any in dictment against Siskin cannot fail to oxcito strong suspicions that a majority of the Jury were inflaenocd by parti feeling, in disregard of their sworn duty 88 Jurors, which requires them to in quire into and present all violations of the law, "without fear, favor or aflco tion." We hove of course no means of koowing what transpired in the Jury room, but the frets known to the public, we think nro fully sufficient to justify suoh suspicions.

The first Important and woll known fact is the killing of West, by Baskin, which is not doniod, and which all will admit was a serious crime, whether it was technically murder," "manslaughter or homicide." The case is brought before tho Grand Jury, and they arc 'specially charged by the Court as to what constitutes the various degrees of homicide It then became their sworn duty as Jurors to inquire into the f'uots and present an indictment in accordance therewith. By their refusal to do so, they have virtually de clared that the killing of West was not a violation of luw not a crimo at all I How they can rcconrile such a declaration to their consciences, as honest, law 'abiding men, passes our comprehension. Another fact which the publio will regard as Mgoifleant, is that the same wiencssos Wire before the Jury, who testifi last spring, when an in- by dictmcnt for Manslaughter was found, and it is not claimed that any ieto evi-ihmre wns presented, which influenced the present Jury, in refusing to find a bill, In ndlition to all a mnjorify of thtj nrors ara known to be of the same political party as Baskin. Put ting all theso cireumstuncra together, wo leave tho publio to derive whether tho Jury did or did not di.tohargo its duty, in oooordanoe with iis sworn and rolcmn ohlipatioas. Btskin is of course roleaso.l fr om bsil aud free to go where he pluses, "Out of the Jaws of Death." the ere of of all the was a Capt.

Ad. H.
