Harger. who has had charge schools during the last Vea'r. will take charge of that depart- ment Monday. Mr. Litts has done a great deal of writing for the Reflector in one way and another, for the past few years.

Miller, who recently sold his residence to Mr. Wellman, proprietor of the Boston store, has decided to move to Denver. The nope schools have been closed for a time, probably for the remainder school year, on account of the SpxeTalence scarlet fever in that city. The Santa Fe will sell round trip excursion tickets to Xortli Manchester, Indiana, at $19.50, for the annual meeting of the German Baptists. Date of sale and limits of tickets will be given later.

Henry "Viseburn, of Hope, was in town today. Henry has been having a -very serious time with a bruised ankle, which causes him to look as if he was just recovering from a long spell of sickness. A number of our business men have banded themselves together and organized a business mens' leading club. Rooms have been engaged over Bennett's grocery store, and the work of furnishing them will be begun in a few days. This is a grand move on the part of our business men, and we tiust hat it will be liberally patronized.

The Christian church social held at the residence of. Dr. T. B. Ross last evening was a grand success in every particular.

The house was filled to overflowing, and the good things prepared by thft ladies were largely partaken of by those in attendance. All report a pleasant time. Solomon Scraps. Mr. J.

M. Wescott and wife, of Richmond. are spending a few days at the Wescott ranch, four miles south of the city. Mr. Aldrich, of day Center, passed through here Saturday afternoon witli horses which he is taking to Colorado.

Mr. T. S. Blair returned from Fort Riley, Saturday evening. Prof.

Cook and wife were in Abilene Saturday. The new pastor of the Methodist church took possession of the parsonage last Saturday. "Mr. Jacoby moved into his new house south of the Santa Fe railroad, last Thursday. There were no services in the Pres-bj terian church yesterday.

The pastor is attending the meeting of the Presby tery at Clyde. Mr. Clinger, of Saliha, preached for the Lutheran church Sunday morning, and returned home on the early train this morning. Rev. Mr Holan, the new pastor of the Methodist church, preached his first sermon yesterday morning.

The impression made by this service was a favorable one. Miss Kiefer, of Salina, accompanied by a lady friend, came down last Saturday and has been visiting sit the home of her aunt, Mrs. II. J. G.

Xeu-miller. They return home today. Mr. Haskall, of Salina, is visiting in the city. Hope Happenings.

H. Beagle took in the sights of iierington last week. The Dispatch has moved down stairs and now occupies handsome quarters one door north of the postoflice. The proprietors have recently put in a new press and the paper comes out this week in a new and enlarged form. We are glad to see these evidences of prosperity.

The Dispatch will do to tie to. Mayor Pease that sounds well. So does the title of Councilman before the names, I. C. Grovier, Jacob Teats, Geo.

Irons, 'Vrm. Koch. All were conferred by the election Monday. G. B.

Barret was re-elected Justice Jacob Bessey. of the Eclipse livery, took Thursday morning's train for Strong City and other eastern points. A number of business men inveigled ex-Mayor Farnham into the Shaeffer House parlors, Thursday morning on the plea of important business. When all were seated. City Attorney Blaich stepped forward and in a neat little speech, presented Dr, Farnham with an elegant goia-ueadeu cane, as a testimonial of appreciation of his services as mayor.

Though taken completely by surprise, Dr. Farnham responded in well-chosen words. This compliment to our out-going mayor was a well-de served one. Miss Jennie Moon has returned from a long visit to friends in Concordia. xne nooK ana uompany is giving the play, "Our Firemen" this week.

The talent displayed is above the siverage of amateur players. Good houses have greeted the performers. Aiman, of the popular Shaeffer House, entertains the train crew of the lioon'freight, which stops here during the dinner hour every day. Geo. Hunton, of Abilene, made on of his semfcoccasional pilgrimages to Hope Thursday.
