Sumpter Pearcy have re-moed their extensive stock of druo-s one door south of their old stand, where they will be glad to greet their old friends. "Ye gentle salvage," aseisted by a hansoms and fascinating clerk, makes every one feel comfortable when they call.

The "Ben) Jonson Saloon" i9 now to the public, on the West side of the square, supplied with the best of Liquors that the market affords. The "Oid Cyclops" oi Bobertson, by the best of judges, is considered very fine, though the tairel was sound and there was no difficulty in transporting it.

The Ben Jonson 13 completely on fire with the luxuiies of the day, and is in daily receipt of the finest qualities of groceries, such as 6ugar, coffee, cheese, tobacco, cigars, confectioneries It CREED FLIPPING CO. The Riot A Base Fabrication. The Press limes of Tuesday publishes, upon the authority of Capt. Walsh, agent of the Freedmen's Bureau of this district, what it terms the facts concerning lhe late difficulty betwsen tin whites and blacks at this place, which is abase misrepresentation from beginning to enJ. Wc refer that paper to the account of the affair given by us last week, and appeal to every honest man wilh unprejudiced mind who witnessed tho affair to bear us out in the repoit given in this paper.

The "immediate origin of the riot," as given by the Press Times, is a milicious slander and base fabrication, and the whole report is a 6lander upon this community. The report of Capt. Walsh lays the blame upon the poor "Kuklux Klan," which is eosupremely ridiculous that we will not in suit our readers wilh a refutation of the charge. The Gewbilikin Solid and figured worsted, calico, domestics, caeimeres, sattinets, janes, tweeds, plaid linseys and flannels, selling at Ward and Shapard's at low pressure prices. 0 Mrs.

The most exciting affair that has occurred in Pulaski sirvce the "Big Riot," so admirable described by the lying scoundrel of the Press fe Times, was the chasing of a large wild dog thiough the streets on yesterday morning. When the yankees evacuated Fort Worthless, near town, there was a large dog of tho female pursuasion that had been staying with them left in the fort, its sole occupant. Sho was ashamed to show her face to her canine 6isters after thus degrading them, and has never ventured to obtrude herself among respect able dogs since. It is clearly evident, however, that some degraded male doj has been so lost to shame as to vieit her, for it is known that her family has increas ed considerably since the war. Her off spring, like the parent, became perfectly wild and inapproachable by humans.

They have been seen frequently prowling about at night like wolves, but never until yesterday could one of them be approached near enough to offer a chance to bo shot at Several young gentlemen jumped one of them yesterday morning, and as they pur 6ued him through town, raised a terrific yell and were joined by nearly the whole town men, women, children and He was overtaken by the contents of a double barreled shot gun on the commons in rear of the Pulaski house, and is now stretched out upon the ground to the gaze of many curious spectators, who pronounce him the largest specimen of the canine species ever before seen in these pario. The Gewhilikins i Hoops, doll babies, coffee mills, sugar, ribbons, coffee, and shawls, to keep you warm at Ward Shapard's. dec 20 Sons of Temperance. A charter for a Division of Sons of Temperance, to be called Pulaski Lodge, No. CG, has been received, and an organ ization was to be effected last night.

Below we give the names of the charter members, but as our paper goes to press Thursday evening, we cannot give the names of the officers of the Lodsre J. MacKenzie, S. C. Paine, Abe. Frizzfcll, F.

Arrowsmilh, Rev. Felix R. Hill, Jas. R. Ciow, Thos.

McaKenzie, acting Deputy Grand Worthy Patriarch. Many who have heard the subject canvassed during the past week or two have looked upon the movement more in the light of a joke than as a sober, serious determination upon the part of the petitioners to effect an organization and endeavor thereby to do themselves and the youth of th's locality good by reclaiming them from the haunts of drunkenness and instilling in their minds principles of Love, Purity and Fidelity. To those who are laboring under this impression we say, you are mistakn. The young men who applied for the charter, and who belong to this Division, are in earnest, and feel a deep interest in this work of reformation, some a9 a proper restraint to throw around themselves and others as a powerful medium through which some of their friends may be redeemed, and regard the institution as one which will exert an elevating and refining influence generally. It has always been said, as of this, that all temperance organizations will flourish for a short time, then fall a "bloated page ant to lheground." Alas formerly this has been loo true; but let us hope that the earnesmess and sincerity with which these young men havis entered into this noble enterprise is an assurance cf its success and permanency, and that its influence may be commensurate will) our national existence.

It is to be hoped that all good citizens, and the ladies particularly, (and we know they will,) will do everything possible to encourage and assist the order. We will give from lime to time the progress of the institution, and trust we shall be able to give an encouraging and flattering account. The Gewhilikin Did you ever see the like If Ward Shapard haven't pone and filled their Big Store house plum full of new goods CO For the Citizen. The Giles County Medical Society.
