In 1856 the first organ was installed at a cost of 1200, O. F. Herman becoming the organist, says the historical sketch, which was compiled and written by the Rev. Dr. Repass, "through appreciation of our Lutheran Church service exerted a commanding influence -in the community." He continued as, organist of the church until 1891.

when he resigned. Later Prof. Herman was succeeded by the late Prof. C. A.

At a meeting of the Teachers' Association June 4, 1S80, an amendment to the constitution which sa''d: "The officers of the Sunday School shall consist of Superintendent who shall be the pastor, ex-ofticio, a- first and second assistant superintendent, secretary, treasurer and librarian." Since that lime the pastors have been the superintendents. The men who stood by the pastor in the work of the Sunday School since that time have been Charles Wagner, 18SS-1833; William A. Hausman, 1893-1907; J. Winslow 1907-1914; and Hon. Milton C.

C. and a son of the late ReV. Dr. S. Repass, the fourth pastor, and both sons of.

the 'Congregation. There will be continued services on Wednesday Vla.v 4, when it is expected that the Rev. John W. Richards, of Philadelphia, a son of the late Rev. Dr.

Mathias Richards, will he, one of the speakers together with the Rev. I. B. Ritter, President of the Allentown Conference, and sever al local pastors whose congregations are connected with the life of St. John's.

John's. In a historical sketch of St. John's Lutheran Church appears the following: "The new (St. John's) church was consecrated May 6. 1S55.

In the morning the Building Committee and the following ministers assembled at the residence of the. pastor: Revs. Dr. C. Schaeffer, A.

Greenewald, L. W. Heidenreich, C. F. Weldon, Dr.

Kessler Etnd J. Dubbs, pastor of the Reformed Church. They went in procession to the church bearing the Bible, service books, and communion vessels. The order of consecration was specially prepared for the occasion, and included the ipecial consecration of the altar, pul pit, books and vessels." The sermons were preached by the Rev. Dr.

Schaeffer, Vogelbach and Rev. Dubbs. When the congregation was organized July 16, 1S55, Solomon L. Keck was elected Chairman and Dr. Henry A.
