This, cut to pieces, makes a tank 5 feet wide by 20 inches high. I nse a common cream thermometer to aid in getting the water to the right temperature.

It should be about 160 degrees. If the hogs are heavy, I use a device for raising them, which is illustrated here. The body of tbe stool is 14 inches square, the legs 6 feet long, and the swivel on tbe stool 8 inches square, with a bolt in tbe bottom that should go part way through the stool. A groove is cut in the top of the swivel block for the pole to rest in, with a bolt through it to hold it in place. When tbe pole is off, one man can pick the stool up and carry it ana where.

When the bog is raised, it can be swung around any place and taken off and placed on another support while tbe nest one is raised. If the water is at the right temperature it is an easy matter to get the hair off the hogs. The following are among items of work accomplished, reported by Dr. D. E. Salmon, obief of the bureau of animal industry, to the secretary of agriculture for the fiscal year ended June 80, 1898: The number of animals inspected before slaughter, either in the stockyards or at the abattoirs, numbered Of this number 9,228,337 were cattle, 10,028,287 sheep, 468,199 calves and 81,610,675 bogs, showing a gain over 1897 of 1,178,213 cattle, 1,992,982 sheep, 19,216 calves and 6,043,981 hogs, a total gain of animals.

At the time of slaughter 31,116,888 animals were inspected and 63, 663 were rejected; 01,608 carcasses and 48,180 parts of carcasses were condemned. The preparation of tuberculin and mallein by the bioohemio division continues steadily. During tbe winter and spring tuberculin sufficient to inject about 6,000 animals is sent out each month. A smaller quantity is used during tbe summer. This should settle the question as to who is the authorized and sole agent for the sale of these Pianos in Allentown and vicinity.
