Handsomely remodeled and enlarged Lacy's Restaurant is at 5096 Long Beach Blvd just north of Del Amo Boulevard The Sunday champagne brunch is served from 10 am to 3 pm The entrees for $195 include two large grade AA eggs with ham bacon sausage pork chop or chopped sirloin accompanied by a glass of sparkling California champagne Danisb-fried potatoes hot biscuits or toast Also featured are fancy omelettes for $2 eggs Benedict with gourmet hollandaise sauce $250 and rumaki (chicken livers wrapped in bacon) $225 also served with eggs and all the other items Restaurant is owned by Carl Jurs and his wife Irene They are a hard-working cheerful pair liked by everyone They have given something which many restaurants lack charisma The restaurant is unusually successful and popular because it tries to do everything right Tbe moment you step in tbe door you have the feeling that you were wise to come here The tmosphere is warm and hospitable and tbe food is terrific prepared under the direction of youthful Richard Bedley executive chef who uses only the best most costly ingredients in every dish At dinnertime Lucy's patrons raw about the quality of tbe prime rib au jus king of It is premium pampered beef tender and savory You may have the Princess cut (two slices about 11 ounces) $495 the Queen cut (14 ounces) $525 or the extra-large King cut with the bone in $625 Each comes with soup and salad potatoes or rice pilaf hot bread and butter Cbef Bedley 's soups are gourmet all the way so are the salad dressings also emphasizes wonderful Italian cuisine such as milk-fed veal appropriate to reveai that the IP-T's magic typesetting computer recently told a lie That computer normally does fine work But it slipped in a recent advertisement for Henry' Old Fashioned Chicken Pie Restaurant It insisted that Henry is closed Sundays That was wrong So offer the computer the following little test: Henry is open Sundays Henry is open Sundays Henry is open Sundays The computer is almost human It is quite sensitive and dislikes criticism I suspect that it set the above three lines with beautiful accuracy Thank you very much computer (I have learned to always be courteous in my dealings with that marvelous machine) Henry Old Fashioned Chicken Pie Restaurant is at 16506 Lakewood Blvd a couple of blocks north of the Artesia Freeway Closed Mondays it is open daily and Sunday from 11 a to 9 pm It was founded many years ago by a Bellflower civic leader Henry Udffeft Sr who is semi-retired It is now owned and operated by members of his family including his sons Ron and Henry Jr The restaurant is famous throughout the Long Beach-Lakewood-Bellflower-Norwalk area for the delectable quality of its chicken pie dinners The restaurant has a large immaculate bakerty where those chicken pies are made fresh daily with loving care They are really scrumptious So is tbe whole chicken pie dinner modestly priced at $250 a generous colorful meal induding separate dish of coleslaw whipped potatoes tots of rich gravy hot homemade buttermilk biscuits with butter and honey garden peas coffee and choice of dessert such as fresh fruit pie Henry has a large parking tot and an attractive dining room with cheerful service by a staff of pretty waitresses There is a large busy delicatessen and takeout department featuring the chicken pies and a huge variety of exotic foods many imported from Europe Tbe luncheon and dinner menu emphasizes everything from fried chicken to chicken noodle and chicken giblet entrees Swiss steak baked ham child's plates sandwich spups salads and desserts including a variety of the rreshest cream or fruit pies The Moffett family operates another Henry Old Fashioned Chicken Pie Restaurant at 1409 Baldwin St Arcadia Its general manager antf
