On our wide Dakota prairies, fencing is not needed now, and, in all probability will not be needed as a protection or the crops, for the next five years, but should it be required, it can be put up for 75 cents a rod, and of strength to turn all stock. To $nclosje two sections of land would require cigtit miles season, an of fencing, the total cost of which would be $1,920. For such buildings as will answer all purposes for temporary accommodation for men and teams during the working outlay of $1,000 would be sufficient, and could be paid for out of 'the receipts from the land, still leaving the owner a clear margin of over $,800 in five years, and even if this amount should be dinary expenses ibsorbed by extraor- 8 the loss of one crop, it would still be considered a good thing to have secured in live years, free of debt, anil without cost, 1,280 acres of land, three-quarters of it under cultivation, with sufficient fence and buildings for all necessary purposes.

The for figuring the income from cultivated laud--taking wheat the crop-J- is a yie of 20 bushels per acre, with a selling price of 85 cents, and the cost of prDduction, per bushel, at 50 cents, leaving a net profit of 35 cents per bushel or $7 per acre. This estimate of the working cost is given by a person who has been over 2,000 acres since on a tract of land, having light sandy soi 1 such as the Compariy rate as "No. 2." The estimates made are all in favor of the producer. The cost of breaking is too high at $3.50, and should be done at $3, or $3.21. The yield is too low-these lands yielding from 25 to 35, and sometimes 45 bushels per acre.

The selling price is low, as wheat ranges from 90 cents to $1 per bushel, as rule, and this spring, at different points in Becker and Clay Counties, Minnesota, farmers rea ized from $L05 to $1.10.
