The hospital ship Olivette, which has been lying near the quarantine station, through some mysterious agency, sank this morning at about 7:30 o'clock. Aboard the ship was a hospital corps of thirty-five and a crew of forty-five persons, all of whom escaped without injury, but in scanty attire. The roustabouts sleeping in the lower hold bad a narrow escape from being drowned in their bunks like so many rats. Fortunately for those on board there was a schooner near by and some of them took shelter on her while the others sought refuge at the quarantine station. No one apparently knows how the calamity could have occurred.

Annapolis, Aug. 31. Orders were received here from the president directing Cervera to make arrangements to proceed with his officers and men back to Spain immediately in ac Paris, Aug. 31. The arrest of Lieutenant Colonel Henry on the discovery that he is the author of an important letter Thich figured in the Dreyfus case, is one of the most sensational de-velopement in the whole of this extraordinary affair.

Henry has been throughout, the champion of the army against Colonel Piequart, with whom he fought a duel. This new development appears to alter the aspect of both the Dreyfus and Zola eases, and to practically nullify the evidence of Generals Pellieux and Boisdeffre, and the declarations of the minister of war, Cavignac, in the chamber of deputies. In fact, some people believe perhaps the real turning point in the Dreyfus case has been reached and the arrest of Henry will lead to a revision of the trial of the prisoners of Devil's Islands. It appears that so soon as M. Cavignac assumed office as minister of war he charged the official bureau to make a thorough research of the Dreyfus case, and it was this inquiry which resulted in the recovery of documents lattly read in the chamber deputies by Cavignac, showing that the proof of the guilt of Dreyfus was forged.

When Henry was summoned to the minister of war and questioned by Cavanac, in the presence General Boisdeff re acd others, he at first affirmed the authenticity of the incriminating documents, but when discrepancies were pointed out, he at first admitted adding the sentences and finally confessed to fabricating the whole letter. It is affirmed, however, that while this discovery has not changed Cavig- retary Alger entered the cabinet, and W. L. P. C.

But the critics of the secretary of war have gone beyond the Santiago campaign. The latest complaints are now made against Camp Thomas at Chickamanga park. That camp was established by Major General Brooke. He Is regarded as one of the best officers in the army. He established Camp Thomas, and was in command until he went to Porto Rico, when he was succeeded by General Wade.

When General Wade went to Porto Rico he was succeeded by General Breckenridge, who has bad years of experience in the army. The charge of neglect, mismanagement and ignorance of sanitary regulations at Camp Thomas are therefore charges against these three generals. The fault, if fault there was, must fall upon the commanders, or the men themselves in that camp, for the typhoid fever which developed there cannot be traced to the war department in Washington, nor any of the bureau chiefs. The secretary of war does not blame the commanders at Camp Thomas for the typhoid fever epidemic nor does be hold the army responsible. Climatic conditions are regarded as responsible for much of the sickness.
