and Elaine Abercrombie Lee of 243 Balentine Road. She has a brother, Josh Lee of Charleston, SC. Predeceased maternal grandparents were John and Hazel Abercrombie, and predeceased paternal grandparents, Hilton O. and Frances Lee. Funeral services were conducted Sunday.

3 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, with Rev. Hans Wunch and Rev. Robert Emory officiating. Burial followed in the Lickville Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Greenville County.

Johnnie, 70, of 10593 Indian Mound Road, Ware Shoals, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007 at Self Regional Medical Center. Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Johnnie Zedekiah and Janie E. Yeargin Miller. He was retired from Monsanto and was a US Army veteran, serving in the 82nd Airborne Division.

He was a Mason and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are two daughters, Shari M. Riddle of Greenwood and Darla E. Surviving Mr. Slay are his wife of 53 years of the home; a daughter, Cathi Gordon and her husband, Robert of Abbeville; a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Gordon of Abbeville; five brothers, James Slay of Saluda, Allan Slay of Abbeville, Billy Slay of Greenwood, Johnny Slay of Greenwood, and Tommy Slay of Abbeville; two sisters, Helen Smith, and Viola Smith, both of Abbeville.
