Schultz, Castalia. Chevalier Attends Science Symposium David Chevalier was one of a group of Iowa high school students chosen to attend the thirty-third convention of the Iowa Junior Academy of Science held at the University of Dubuque on April 23 and 24. The science symposium is sponsored by the National Science Foundation. David presented a paper, "The Effect of Solutions of Sulfa Drugs in Dimethyl Sulfoxide on Erysipelas," at the afternoon session on Saturday. He was accompanied to Dubuque by Ron Davis.

BPW Club Sponsoring Cancer Film Showing The Postville Business and Professional Women's Club will be contacting all business firms in Postville and handing out free tickets to the working women and urging them to attend a free showing of two cancer films at the Iris Theatre on Thursday, May 6, at 5:30 p. m. The films, "Time and Two Women" and "Breast Self will be secured through Mrs. John J. Martins, chairman of the Allamakee Cancer Society.

This project has been sanctioned by the Postville Commercial Club and it is suggested that all employers will cooperate in allowing their women employees time off so that each may attend. The films are short and the entire reviewing will last only about 30 minutes. All other women of the community are in vited; they may receive their free tickets at the door or by contacting any BPW member. Nile Zieman was elected Saturday, April 24, at the Iowa Association FFA Leadership Conference to serve as Iowa FFA Reporter for the coming year. He follows Rex Carlson who has held the position during the current year.

Stanley Martins, Mike Krambeer, and Robert Kugel received the Iowa Farmer Degree which is the highest degree obtainable in the Iowa association. Only two per cent of the members in the state are awarded this degree each year. Other Postville FFA gold award winners included Lowell Brandt, freshman creed speaking; historians scrapbook prepared by Ron Lenth; secretary's book as kept by Frank Hangartner; and a soil and water conservation proficiency award by Frank Hangartner. Nile Zieman received a silver award on his poultry proficiency award and Ron Lenth a bronze award for his farm and home electrification. Duane Koenig participated as a member of the Iowa FFA chorus Frank Hangartner and Ron Lenth were chapter delegates with Frank serving on the Iowa FFA band committee.

Kiwanis Honors Banquet To Be Held On Mon day The Postville Kiwanis Club's annual Honors Banquet will be held next Monday evening, May 3, 6:30 p. at the dining hall of St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church. The Rev.

Louis H. Valbracht, senior pastor of one of the larg est Lutheran churches in the country, St. John's Lutheran Church, Des Moines, will be the speaker. He attended Hamma Divinity School, Wittenberg Univer sity and graduated with a Bach' elor of Divinity degree. He was awarded a Doctor of Divinity De gree by the same university, in 1963.

He has been speaker at many high school commencements and college and university convoca tions throughout the midwest. Honored guests from Postville high school will be honor roll students and those receiving top ratings in speech, band and vocal music. The meeting will be a special ladies night event for Kiwanians and their wives. Athletic Banquet Will Be Held Here On Thursday The annual athletic banquet sponsored by the Postville Commercial Club will be held this Thursday evening, April 29, 6:45 p. at the all purpose room of the Postville grade school.

Postville letter winners will be honored and letters presented by the coaches. The Speaker. Speaker the evening will be Bill George, all Pro linebacker of the Chicago Bears. George, who will begin his 14th season with the Bears this fall, was selected as an all-National Football League linebacker in 1964, the ninth time he has been so honored. He has played in eight straight Pro Bowlgames in his 13 seasons.

George has broken into three statistical categories 16 interceptions for 120 yards return; 15 opponents fumbles recovered; and 26 scoring points on 14 place- kick conversions and four field goals. He is the longest service performer on the Bears roster. Letter Winners. Open House Is Set At The County Home Open house will be held at the Allamakee county home northeast of Waukon on Sunday, May 2, from 1:00 to 3:30 in the afternoon.

The public is invited to attend the open house and see the activities of the home. School Graduation Exercises Are Set A call for volunteer help from the flood threatened town of Clayton on the Mississippi River received prompt response from school officials and students last Thursday. Thirty-seven volunteers from grades 10, 11 and 12 were hurriedly rounded up and along with High School Principal Eldean Drewes began work about 1:00 at Clayton. They worked throughout the afternoon and again on Friday afternoon 50 volunteers worked. Pictured above are the youths and the jobs they were assigned to do.

Olaf College have been elected to membership in the Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's oldest scholastic honor society, by the St. Olaf chapter. They, along with eight of their classmates who were elected last fall on the basis of their academic standings as juniors, were initiated into' the Delta chapter of the society at a dinner meeting Monday, April 19, at the College. Dr. Bryce Crawford, dean of the graduate school at the University of Minnesota, spoke at the meeting on the topic, "Symmetry: Left and Right." The group includes Gail Kozelka, Mathematics-Biology, daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. E. W. Kozelka. Dr.

Schlein At Annual Convention Des M. F. Schlein of Postville attended the Iowa Chiropractic Society's annual education convention held in Des Moines on April 20-22. At a luncheon held Thursday the name of Pat Osborne, 18, Newton, was selected as Iowa's Correct Posture Queen. The seventieth annual commencement for the Postville High School will be held at 8:00 p.

m. on the evening of Wednesday, May 26. Baccalaureate services will be held on Sunday evening, May 23, in the high school auditorium. Dr. William C.

Lang, dean of instruction and dean of the college at State College of Iowa, will give the commencement address on Wednesday, May 26. The title of his address will be Dr. Lang received both his MA and Ph. D. degrees from the State University of Iowa.

He attended high school at Tyndall, South Dakota and earned his B. A. degree from Yankton College in 1931. Dr. Lang has served as teacher, principal, and superintendent of schools at Kennebek, South Dakota.

He was appointed to the faculty of' Yankton college in 1936. While at Yankton college he served at various periods as dean of men, dean of college, and as acting president for two years Rev. Joseph Sullivan of St Bridget's Catholic Church in Postville, will give the baccalau reate address on Sunday evening, May 23, on the subject, "Youth and He will be assisted by Rev. Gehrald Riesen of the Bethlehem United Presbyterian Church of Postville, Rev. Walter Pfeffer of the Zion Lutheran Church of Castalia, and Rev.

Donald Jones of the Bethel Evangelical United Brethren Church of Postville. Rites Held For Mrs. Sebastian Mrs. Frank D. Sebastian, nee Lydia Nolte, the daughter of Simon Nolte and Johanna Fogt Nolte, was born in Allamakee county, Iowa on October 23, 1886.

She was baptized in the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in Ludlow on November 20, 1886 and. confirmed on March 23, 1902. She became a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran. Church of Postville in 1907.

She died suddenly at her home oh April 18, 1965 at the age of 78 years, five months and 26 days. She was married to Frank Sebastian on March 27, 1907. To this union were born three children. The couple made their home on a farm northwest of Postville until 1940, when they moved to town. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Jack Nolte of Burr Oak, and Ben Nolte of Burlington; and two sisters, Lena, Mrs.

John Meyer of Ossian and Mrs. Louise Evans of Salem, Oregon. She is survived by one daughter, Florence, Mrs. Sheldon Hall of Postville; two sons, Harlan of Postville and Robert of Mason City; two sisters, Augusta, Mrs. Simon Brandt of Waukon and Laura, Mrs.

Ed Goeke of Decorah; one brothel William Nolte of Waukon; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren and many- other relatives and friends. She has been an active member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville for 58 years, and an Honor Roll member of the Lutheran Church Women. Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Postville, on Thursday, April 22, at 1:30 p.

m. Interment was in the Postville cemetery with the Rev. Charles E. Witt, pastor of St. Paul's officiating..
